  • News Golden Zephyr to be closed ...for two days (4/25, 4/26)

Zephyr was closed all day today (4/24) and will continue to be Saturday and Sunday for reasons unknown to me. Please plan accordingly and enjoy other Paradise Pier attractions.

Thanks for the news. Weird. Wonder if has anything to do with all the construction in the bay, or something else?

Closing for construction in the bay actually makes more sense than my assumption that it's for maintenance.

When was it ever open? Every time I've been there, it wasn't running, making it one of two rides I haven't rode at DLR yet:rant:

That's kinda weird for it to be closing now.

The Golden Zephyr was back up and running this Sunday evening (4/26). It was kind of hard to miss while waiting in line for my hot link corn dog.

The Golden Zephyr has a very low tolerance for wind - they shut it down in anything over a mild breeze, or if the winds are at all gusty or variable and could go over the limit. IIRC the limit was around 10 MPH.

It was indeed running Sunday. I posted this in the project tracker, but basically the problem was that a part needed to be replaced. It was actually replaced between Friday and Saturday, earlier than they had expected. It was ready to open on Saturday. But it was closed Saturday all day due to winds.

Sunday it was up and running. Except for when it was down for winds mid-day.
