  • Disneyland Abbreviations

    Okay. These message boards are LOADED with abbreviations for Disneyland attractions. Now, I know some of them, like POTC is Pirates of the Carribean, and DCA is Disney's California Adventure, they are no brainers, but some of them are really hard to figure out. Would somebody please make a list of all of the abbreviations and what they mean? If its already been done, I apologize, but I am LOST! :confused:

Make me confused; mock me with praise. Let me be used. Vary my days. But alone is alone, not alive. Somebody crowd me with love, somebody force me to care. Somebody let me come through, I'll always be there as frightened as you, to help us survive being alive."

            Actually, I've found it kind of fun to try to figure these out!
            "Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

              SM isn't very good it can be confused for Space Mountain or Splash Mountain. Space and Splash are the typical shorthand for those... or at least the correct shorthand, IMO.

              I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive.
              If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

              With all this talk of "off the shelf" and "on the back-burner" it seems the only thing that DCA is really missing is the kitchen sink!

                Also there are:

                TDL = Tokyo Disneyland
                TDR = Tokyo Disney Resort
                TDS = Tokyo DisneySea

                For rides...

                RotA = Rivers of the Americas
                CBJ = (was) Country Bear Jamboree :-(
                PM = (was) Peoplemover
                CoP = Carousel of Progress
                TT = Tarzan's Treehouse
                TR, ETR = Enchanted Tikiroom
                DLRR = Disneyland Railroad (I think this is an "official" acronym)

                And a bunch more for WDW (Walt Disney World) attractions...

                      Maynard is a very enthusiastic Attractions CM- he is usually to be found as an HM host.

                          yeah, I think so- have never met him personally- only heard about him. Any Maynard stories out there? Or has that been in another thread already- if so, please provide the link.

                            Terms I often use when I'm with friends at the park:

                            SE
                            DB
                            WT

                            SE == stroller envy. When you see someone that takes your breath away pushing a stroller.

                            DB == distant beauty. Someone that looks great far away, but quickly goes from Dream to Dud as they get closer to you. *hums Mystery Date theme*

                            WT == white trash. Self-explanatory.

                            People watching is one of the best things to do at the park :-)

                                  Because of land locking Maynard lost his Haunted Mansion knowledge! (if you don't work there for a year, they say you cna't wprk it again until you get retrained!)
                                  Personally, me being a cast member, I think that Maynard is a little overated. Maynard is a GREAT guy but ... there are TONS of GREAT cast members at Disneyland who deserve just as much praise as he does. But that is just my thoughts ...

                                  A few other abbreviations:

                                  CM = Cast Member
                                  DL = Diseyland
                                  DLR = Disneyland Resort
                                  DCA = Disney's California Adventure
                                  TZToT = Tower of Terror

                                  There are more ... but I am drawing a blank!!

                                    IMO (In my opinion) We should be using the slang the CM (cast members) use in the parks. When I worked at WDW (Walt Disney World), each attraction had a short name, here are some that I remember/know (although some of them don't exist any more you can probably guess what they were/are)

                                    Tower
                                    Coaster
                                    Splash
                                    Walking Tour
                                    Shuttles
                                    Honey (or Honey Hell)
                                    Muppets
                                    Movie Ride
                                    Mermaid
                                    Turtles
                                    20K

                                        I agree that there are tons of excellent CMs at DLand. But there is just something a little special about Maynard. I loved Maynard before Maynard started receiving all this attention. I think it's okay to acknowledge someone when there is something particularly special or touching about someone. I still have a picture that Maynard drew for me almost 8 years ago (or so).
