  • [Fun] Fuzzies you think could be pulled off as face characters?

So I was just randomly thinking about fuzzy characters vs. face characters, and I couldn't help but think that there are some fuzzies that could be pulled off as face characters. As much as I love Mickey and gang, I find the face characters so much more interesting to interact with because they can actually display emotions and speak. I'd like it if Disney expanded their face character collection, and I definitely think there would be characters that could switch over. Jessie, Woody, and Buzz Lightyear, for example. The costumes would have to be re-proportioned, obviously, but I think those three could be pulled off.

    Any thoughts?

Would love to see Captain Hook played as a face charcter - and watch him interact with Petah Pan -

Captain hook, Mr. Smee, Ursula and The Red Queen...

currently the red queen is played by tall skinny guys... both ursula and the red queen would need to be played by fuller figured women - which would give more people the opportunity to become face characters.

I would like to see Lilo as a face character as well.

I think in general it's cool to have human characters played by humans, so I would love to see the Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, Lilo, Gepetto, and Pinocchio (in real boy form) as face characters.
However, I have to disagree with you about Woody, Jessie, and Buzz, because they are toys, so to see live humans playing them wouldn't be true to their characters. It would be cute if Woody and Jessie had some kind of a string you could pull to hear them say phrases, just like toy Woody in the movie.
I think for some characters you could mix fuzzy and face for a neat effect. For example, if Lumiere and Cogsworth were to greet guests (hey, I can dare to dream) they could be full bodied, thick costumes like you see with most fuzzies, but have holes in the faces so that they could interact with guests vocally. Using makeup to blend in where the face ends and the costume begins, you could achieve a really neat effect of an inanimate object that has come to life.

Agreed. I think seeing them with real faces would actually make me uncomfortable, haha.

That would be fabulous! I love Lumiere and Cogsworth.

I think having humans as fuzzy's is what gives it the cartoon feel. I think faces should stay face and fuzzy's should stay fuzzy

I think Bo Peep from PPP would look great without the weird mask thing.

True, but what decides the cut off? I know alot of people love Cruella as a face character, yet a similar baddie like Captain Hook or the Red Queen is a fuzzy? My biggest pet peeves are Captain Hook and Gepetto. Both would better serve as face characters, I think.

I think the presence of face characters helps to suspend disbelief. Why is there a giant Woody doll running around Frontierland? Why can't we hang out with the real Sheriff Woody? I really see no reason why there should be any human characters that are not face characters.

^I agree. If I were a kid, I would find it much easier to accept Captain Hook as being "real" if he had a real face as opposed to a masked character with one single expression.

The three characters you named are toys, and are therefore supposed to look like toys.

But overall I get your jist.

The old man from UP would be AWESOME . Disney needs an old guy in the parks.

I think with some characters, it is too difficult to get the actual presence correct and some may not look right as a face character. I'm sure they have tried doing this and realized that some characters are determined by their costumes and that based on good costuming, people will know a character based on that regardless if the person looks like that character or not. Others I'm sure are harder to portray. I'm even surprised that Fairy Godmother is a real person.
