  • [Question] Barbossa's Fingers?

I was at Disneyland earlier this year and found it very funny that the painting of Hector Barbossa on the wall in the line for PotC only had four fingers! has anybody else noticed this?

I haven't counted the digits, but that's a horrible painting of his hands. His fingers look like oversized sausages.

I would say maybe it was behind the sword, but looking at it zoomed in ( Flickr Photo Download: Barbossa ) maybe not. It is easier to paint four fingers instead of five though...

I think they tried to copy my charcoal drawing of Michael Myers (I am horrible with hands)

Is that the original painting? You'd think that they would have repainted it with the Jack Sparrow overlay...

Actually that was added with the overlay (along with the picture of Jack Sparrow himself).

personally i do not like the fact they put the cast of POTC on the walls. i think they already have them in the ride more than enough times, DONT get me wrong, i love having them in the show but i think them on the walls is too much...

What I find interesting is the contrast in style between old and new. The older paintings were caricature, some would say almost cartoonish in design. The newer paintings remind me of impressionist self-portraits. For a unit that prides itself in seamless integration from old to new they managed to make quite a contrast. Ironically there is a cartoon version of Jack and Barbosa readily available that could easily have been slightly modified to match the older paintings.

                            I have to agree.
I've never closely looked at it simply because I don't consider it part of the attraction.
It looks it was added in (because it was)
and it doesn't seem to have the great detail (or old world flavor) that original paintings have/had.

To that end I'd like the Internet community to join me in reminding the Disney company that "it all started with Walt." As you can see below we've created some T-shirts, plus a few simple graphics that you can copy and paste into your websites to let folks know how you feel.

I'm not going to lie: when I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it was about some new kind of pirates themed chicken meal in NOS. XD
