  • Single Rider line?

So when I was there in July they had just recently removed their single rider line. (I was upset because I was constantly riding as a single some days.) At the Matterhorn they are pretty good a loading singles if you let them know on the side queue area (and CMs have even spotted me alone). Soarin' does too (and TT and MS at WDW). I found out near the end that Splash Mountain has a singles line, but does anyone know if Space Mountain will open up with one? Or if other attractions have it or will soon? Thanks!

Single Rider was tested first at Indiana Jones and was taken out sometime in the last few month after the queve and the movie returned. Splash Mt did have single rider, but no word on when it opens again if it will still have single rider on the new boats. I had a dream about that last night also. But, its another story. Over at DCA Mulholland Madness, CA Scream'in, Maliboomer,Grizzly River Run,and Soarin' Over California. Matterhorn also had a Singe Rider line anomously for a week when they put in the new gates. But now you just have to yell out and point ONE Here! Right now there are no Single Rider lines in operation in Disneyland, but Buzz Lightyears Astro Blasters will have a Single Rider when it opens in March. Thats all I know if anyone has any more info please voice it! thanks!

I really want to know how Buzz's single rider line will work

seems kinda stupid to me o_o it's an omnimover it doesn't need or have a logical use for Single rider it's not like Indy or anything were there will be spaces left, nobody will want to share a car with a total stranger o_o WDW people weild too guns when they're alone or at least that's what I hear

Thanks for that update. [A dream, eh? Want to share? Now I'm curious. You can PM me if you'd like.] But when reading the Buzz thread here I saw that due to loading like the Haunted Mansion that wouldn't work since the cars would keep moving? Or will it load differently than at WDW and have two rows? This is confusing.

Also, does anyone know why they took it out at Indy? I shakes you so much that it's hard on my dad's back. Many people won't ride it for that reason. It seems to be a shame not to if they worked it fine for a while?

They took ti out of Indy for prue hassle on the Cast Members working the queve line and the new stopping for the safety video. Its the system and states that people with nausea motion sickness and back pains shouldnt ride. I will talk later bed time for me!

My guess is a SR on an omnimover would work similar to how Mulholland Madness is now. Those cars don't exactly stop, but there are seats that the CMs can direct you to.

Buzz Won't have a SR. It's pointless because it moves too fast
and the XP-40 Space Cruisers only hold three adults anyway.

If every seat has its own seat, seat belt & gun & everything else, then there's no reason why it can't have a SR. If motion really prevented that then explain Mulholland Madness, or why couldn't a single step onto a moving platform with another group?

I don't like Single Riders on attractions like Mulholland Madness, or Space Mountain, or any other 2 person to a row attraction. I don't want to ride with a stranger. On Mulholland Madness you get kind of close and personal with the person you're riding with when they make the turns. If I'm in a party of three, I think one person should get to ride by themselves not with a loud 12 year old like what usually happens on Mulholland Madness. JMO.

I agree. I like riding alone, not with a stranger. Single rider is a great concept, but not everyone feels comfortable with strangers.

All that you have to do (as I have done in the past) is to tell the CM that you would prefer to ride alone. They will accomodate you.

the seats arn't seatbelted they're Haunted Mansion style with the safty bar and such

and it's the constant motion, think about how the Haunted Mansion loads, cast members have a hard enough time making sure there arn't gaps in the omnimover

try compounding that with the problem of being on a moving sidwalk and making sure that there is two people to every ride vehical sounds rediculous to me, cast members can'd do much of ANYTHING to make sure that each omnimover on the Haunted Mansion is fully optimized

then what about groups that just use single rider, once your up on that sidewalk theres nothing to stop one person from taking a car all to themselves or a group of single riders all banning together and claiming cars in group formation, it's not like the cast member has the vehicals stopped or anything and it's not like the vehicals slow down as then enter the load and unload areas, to me this all sounds like a complicated plan that will never pan out

I loved single riders.... However those lines have been dissappearing lately.. heck Universal removed it from Hulk at Islands of Adventure...

Disney needs to use this in more rides.. At MGM RNRC shuld have one... TOT should have one...

I'm all for this. I usually fly solo on my Disney trips and SR lines make my life so much easier (and gets me on the rides quicker). Okay, I'll admit it! That is a pretty selfish reason but I'm a pretty self-centered guy.

Actually I like it when I'm solo, it gives the opprotunity to meet new people and make friends while in line.

Single rider lines are great for roller coasters and other rides that accomodate several people in a row with individual seats and limited capacity per round. I fail to see the need for a single rider line, however, in an omnimover system as there is such high capacity anyway. It would be especially strange if people will be loading themselves as in the Haunted Mansion. However, if it were to have a loading area like Spaceship Earth, single riders could be accomodated, but it still doesn't make a lot of sense, as the individual cars don't have that high of a capacity.

                              On another note:

This is a shame. I was just there at the beginning of January, and the single rider system worked great for the Mummy, and would have helped many of the other rides to increase their capacity.

doesn't ToT at DCA have single rider, I don't think it's good for a ride like that though, the whole point of single rider is to fill in gaps so it is good in a way, but if everyone pools up in the library and it keeps going from there then it allows groups cuts in line (which is what will likly happen to Buzz once you hit the load area) or does ToT skip the preshow like I've heard Testtrack does?

Actually.... Test Track used to skip the preshow.. however when they last redid the queue a few years back... now single rider actually goes into preshow one i belive..... (which slows down the queue due to having one less preshow for everyone else...)

TOT could have a preshow built for them... it couldn't be hard... have a "anex" built whihc is a third library and then have the singles go in... then in a group go out & form a line to fill in spaced.... (I miss the middle seat...)

Splash Mountain single rider que may, if alone, be the only way to ride Splash Mountain. I do not think it is well known yet, and I hope it never is.

I saw a number of groups using the Single Rider Line at Soarin'. That surprised me a bit.

Bingo. The whole concept of SR is to fill in the spaces of a ride vehicle (like a 4th man in a row for Indy, etc.). To do it on an omnimover seems to be kinda silly.
