        Thanks for posting that shot!

I've seen a few ground-level construction photos in a WDI presentation before, but I don't have access to the pics, unfortunately.

I did a fairly extensive Web search, and only came up with the same photo in three different places. I guess photos related to the construction of Fantasyland are hard to come by these days. Fortunately, I have a few additional photos in my archive to share (the first one seems...interesting):

can anyone make out where the first photo was taken (the ones posted by Robert)?

it looks like there is a staircase that leads down somewhere.

Re: Help with 1983 Fantasyland Construction pics.

FYI for those too young to remember - - the Skyway ran almost continuously (as a round trip from Tomorrowland) throughout the entirety of Fantasyland construction, so we got a bird's eye view of the whole process.

It was both upsetting and exciting to watch it progress before our eyes that year (never thought much about taking pics, though I'm sure there were some). ...Upsetting due to the loss of the pirate ship and to see the fondly remembered old buildings go away - - but exciting to discover how high quality the new material was and to experience the building anticipation for opening.

It's wonderful that this particular project happened prior to the changeover in the company when things were given proper budgets, time and detail. I'm sorry they never got the budget to rebuild the ship.

Interesting to see what difference digital cameras and the internet make. Merlinjones talked about how easy it was to see everything from the skyway, yet so few pictures are floating around out there. I imagine fewer people wanted to take pictures of construction when they had the limitations of physical film to deal with. Now, the smallest detail change is documented by tons of pictures posted here to micechat. Fascinating, IMO.
