  • What are your expectations of Bob Iger?

Starting now, Bob Iger is the new leader at the Disney empire. Welcome to Bob!

What are your expectations of him when it comes to the Disneyland Resort and other areas of the company? What do you hope he'll do?

    Let's give him hints.

One of the things I was hoping he'd do (and I posted this in another thread, too) was that he'd allow bigger budgets for Disney theme parks. Giving Disneyland Park a new E-Ticket, retooling DCA with a more engrossing theme, making a third park in Anaheim that resembles the creativity of Tokyo Disney Seas... No more out of the box rides. Bleh.

I would like to think that he could possibly find a way to alienate fewer people than Eisner did, and find ways to get people to work together across the spectrum, instead of trying to concentrate all the reins of power in his own hands, and lettting his ego get in the way of making good decisions for the future of the company.

Considering what Mike did in those areas, he can't lose. Anything else is frosting on the cake.

I expect a personal letter inviting me to his family's thanksgiving dinner.

What I expect is for him to surround himself with people that know what they are doing. I want someone that understands the theme parks to run them. Someone that knows TV to be at ABC. I don't want to see someone that knows stores running DL again like you know who that ran it into the ground.

I have no expectations. I have seen evidence that he will definitely do something, but I really can't say whether I think it'll be for good or ill. Let's just say I'm determined to be "cautiously optimistic".

Of course, everytime I head those words, an airline declares bankruptcy...

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Good thread! If he can have some humility and wisdom, along with realizing what the true Disney magic is, he will be OK in my book. It's not about the bottom line, it is about dreams, and being a cut above. I want to see quality (like we have seen from Matt so far) back in the parks, movies, and shows. The money will take care of itself if the product is great.

I expect he'll keep things just the same as they were under Eisner.

                    I hope I'm wrong.

He needs to mend fences with Pixar asap. Give Steve Jobs whatever he wants, but don't let Pixar partner with another studio.

I'm hoping Iger will give Ouimet the budget to do great things.

I'm hoping the company will get better and better.

(I hope he strays from the straight-to-DVD animated movie sequel trend.) Bleh.

Out of Hollywood this morning, he fired almost all the staff of The Muppet Holding company including the hand picked head of that division. All Muppet projects are on hold. There are only three senior staff memvers left. All at the direct orders of Iger. Of course all the people he fired were hand picked by Eisner to run Muppet Holding, so maybe he is just trying to say it's a whole new world for Disney. I guess we just have to wait and see.

Innnnnnnnnnnteresting. I thought they were old Henson holdouts, I didn't realize they were Eisner cronies. Okay, this gets more interesting.

I expect Iger to remove the Singles and Doubles complacency... This breeds not just in the movie studio, but in the theme parks, consumer products, and television.

I expect Iger to move toward a culture of creativity that provides quality Family programing and products.

I expect those who have toted the Eisner Singles and Doubles line to be removed.

I expect big dreams which create majic, and then have finance say, "Let's figgure how we can do this and make a profit..."

I expect that he will name a President that will complement his managment style...

I expect that he will not hold anyones management position sacred durring the transisition, and institute a culture of change.
