  • [Fun] Disneyland Resort Water Park

With many believing that one day, Disneyland Resort will have a water park located at the old strawberry fields/new parking lot, do u think that Disney would be using a totally new design for the water park, or an old design, like Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon.

I will be at DisneyWorld on April 29, 2011-May 4, 2011. If You Are Going The Same Time Message Me

I saw concept art for it in the lobby of the Disneyland Hotel back in '99 when they were working on DCA. The artwork I saw I think had a Little Mermaid theme to it - but that could have just been a ride or two also. I think I took pictures of it...will have to dig through the old photos.....
Counting the minutes to our next trip!

Although I've never been to WDW, from what I've seen, both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon look extraordinary. I love a quality water park, and I think bringing one to the original Disneyland Resort would be a great idea. Hopefully they would dream up an original concept for ours and not just give us a copy of either of the two in Florida, again, they look great but it's always nice to get something original. Who knows though, since they have very little room to expand in Anaheim, they might want to use the space for another theme park a la DCA or DL.

I would rather see a PIRATES themed water park if they ever do one here. Something very Disney. So it doesn't look like the typical waterslide park but looks more naturalistic and tropical and exotic.

But I'd rather see a third THEME PARK not a water park.

That sounds interesting, I hope you find the photographs.

I can't imagine going to DLR, getting soaked, then driving home.

I'm sure this is a great idea from the perspective of the vacationer, however.

Perhaps a hotel with a waterpark expansion would be a better idea.

I've been thinking that too. Even a special pool area shared by the three Disney hotels with a bunch of waterslides and a great theme. Incentive to stay at their hotels if you want admission (and a hot shower).

                  Re: Disneyland Resort Water Park

My friend who isn't a Disney fan at all always nags to me,
Why hasn't Disney built a water park yet here?
and since I'm an AP holder he expects an answer from me as if I know.

So it seems its something that should be expected, and it should be something (as mentioned above) very Disney. Something original, but not that crappy Paradise Pier theming
I live and breathe for these artistic ladies...

I actually think a good waterpark could serve as an anchor for resort expansion by Paradise Pier Hotel. The Simba parking lot has roughly 3x the surface area of Typhoon Lagoon. In my perfect world, PP Hotel would be bulldozed in favor of a Grand Floridian style hotel that would serve as the new backdrop for Paradise Pier by the Orange Stinger and Beer Garden. Disney Way would have to curve around this new structure, but could pass the entrance much like it does the new GCH. The new waterpark could be built in the SouthWest corner leaving room for a new parking structure, hotel, and expanded DTD that passes by teh current Disneyland Hotel and Victorian themed hotel. That's a dream build.

That would be awesome! I'm not really all for Disney building a waterpark on-site just because of space and also the fact that there are 4 surrounding water parks in the OC/LA area, but the hotel idea is great.

Lava Lagoon is always nice...outdoors of course.

Great idea. That would definitely help Paradise Pier out.

I don't think you have ever been to a water park.
