  • [Question] WoC : just water and lights

I have watched the Youtube presentations of DCA's World of Color and the show looks great. I am just curious, are there any 3-D elements to the show? AAs? Puppets? Actors? Like Fantasmic mixes live with film and water/fire effects. Will there be any actual people or figures in this show, or is it all water, fire, lights and film?

Well this is a tough question.

Of course there will be actual people and figures in the show. They'll just be composed of water.

There are supposed to be two AA's.

The water itself will form a lot of 3D elements though.

Just to avoid confusion, NO, there will not be a single living human being involved within the show itself.

I don't believe there are any AA's either actually...

The water and special effects combined create all of the actors. Or that is what I understand.

One has to simply look at the structure to see that there is virtually no room for AAs and/or props.

No human performers Haha.... But tons of techs.

There is supposed to be a Chernabog and a Zerg that rise out of the water for two sequences. Whether those were cut or not, I have no idea.

There was a pneumatic lift near Fun Wheel for a while and multiple sources said it was for Zerg. Now it has disappeared.

I guess for people like us, techs are performers!

Wasn't it, like, said that Chernabog and Zerg would be made out of water?

When I went to Blue Sky Cellar, the host told us that the water is going to create the form of characters and scenes. If you look at one of the concept drawings of Pocahontas, you can see that the river she is riding on extends out into the lake, meaning the water is pushed up to form the river. And during the Cheshire cat scene that is depicted, the water will curve out to make his head look three dimensional and his swirling body will be made of water.

Personally, I'm really excited for World of Color. What I've heard of it so far is brilliant.

There will be fog, fire, lasers. They will use the various layers of fountains to replicate the "multi-plane" animation effect in water+projections. It is rumored that parts of Chernabog/Zurg will be animatronics and parts will be projection on the water (like upper body animatronic, torso down projection. (see next post)

It's most definitely not just water and lights... and even if it were, it's water and lights like you haven't seen them before. Doing things no one has attempted to do with them before.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

In Steve's presentation he said specifically that Chernabog would be created entirely out of water.
