  • Trip Report D23 reviews Club 33

D23 posted a nice little trip report to Club 33 in their D23 FANfare email update. Here's the link.

I found this to be quite interesting:

18 years? No wonder they cut off the sign-up list...

18 years? Geez. No wonder they thought it'd be a good idea to start one up in DCA.

OldSchoolMickey made a comment about how the economy affects people's ability to purchase a membership. Basically they sign up in good times, and when called up are then unable to afford it... but I always thought the list was around the 5 or 6 year mark... didn't realize it was 18 years.

Exactly how many people make up 18 years worth of waiting?
        Have you PLay'ed today?

It will be a great place to take your kids. Or grandkids.

My goodness I had no idea it was that long! Let's hope some people drop off the list.

perhaps there's been an increase in the "inherited membership" (can't remember official name)? you know, the one where businesses are allowed to change the member every year?

I didn't know they could do that.

And find a new home in the haunted mansion?

There's always room for 1,000 haunts, heck, even 18 years worth of haunts!

I believe the corporation still owns the membership, it is just the person who's name is on the card and who is responsible for making reservations can change. Like if a person leaves the corporation or the position in that corporation then they can put the card in someone else's name.

The other surprising number was that there only 480 members. Not a very big group. An 18 year waiting list may not actually contain a lot of people.

I would be very curious as to how many members drop off each year.

I am about 4 years in so if it is truly 18 years, I have a long way to go!

                            Yeah, I saw the write-up.

                            18 years is over-inflated.

The folks getting the invitation during the past few years were on the list for about 7 to 9 years.

D23 did simple math to come up with the 18 year figure. More than likely, they took the current number of folks on the list and divided it by the usual number of new members each year to come up with the 18 year figure.

But as we all know, not EVERY person on the list will actually follow through and sign up. MOST, yes I said, MOST folks on the list are just curiosity seekers and/or dreamers (future lottery winner hopefuls...LOL).

                            Enjoy!
