  • News Madame Leota among Disney Legends honored at D23 EXPO!

The Disney Legends awards were announced and the Haunted Mansion's own Leota Toombs Thomas will be one of the honorees at the D23 Expo! Sadly, her award is being presented posthumously (however in a grim way, this is slightly appropriate given the attraction that made her famous). Also Don Iwerks, the son of Ub Iwerks, is being honored for his contributions including Circlevision 360 and Star Tours.

Here's the link to the other honorees: D23 Expo | The Official Community for Disney Fans

Try to keep the discussion based on the DLR so the thread doesn't get banished to the D23 page

    The other honorees are:
Tony Anselmo (animator and voice of Donald Duck)
Harry Archinal (former president of Buena Vista Intl.)
Beatrice Arthur (from the Golden Girls, et al.)
    Bill Farmer (voice of Goofy)
Estelle Getty (also from the Golden Girls)
Don Iwerks (son of Ub Iwerks, developed technology for Mary Poppins, Circlevision 360, and Star Tours)
Rue McClanahan (again from Golden Girls)
Betty White (Golden Girls, Boston Legal, etc.)
...and the headliner, Aladdin's own Robin Williams!
I'm literally a born Disney fan! I was born at Providence St. Joseph Med Center right across the street from Disney Studios in Burbank. The same hospital where Walt died.

Yeah I had no idea how much Ub Iwerks' son had contributed until I read this. It'd be cool if they included a touch to him in Star Tours 2.0. Kind of the like J.Hench door in the Space Mountain queue.
