Re: Some observations...
Oh, believe me...when you deal with life there are a ton of things not to smile about but I think common courtesy when dealing with the public is a must..."please" and "thank you" goes a long way for customer service! I was a manager for the Disney Stores and back then you had to make sure your cast was on their best and if they weren't you had to pull them backstage and deal with it! I don't work for the company anymore but even where I am now, if someone is having an off day I make sure I find out whats wrong and not just for our customers but for my employees. If they aren't happy I find out what I can do to make their day better!

Re: Some observations...
Depending on the time of the month that you went the lesser enthused CMs probably were thinking ahead to the rent payments and bills that await them at home.

Re: Some observations...
Well it might not just be their job that is stressing them out, they have lives outside of disneyland. They could easily have something going on back home that would prevent a smile even at the happiest place on earth. Unless they treat you like crap, I wouldn't say not serving a smile is horrible, they are people too n just like them I'm sure we've all experienced a time when smiling was impossible. But anyways, your trip sounded like fun n lucky you guys were chosen. Hope to see you there too!

Re: Some observations...
Ive run into some CMs like you who seemed less than enthused bout being at work, but fortunately, the great CMs stand out more to me. And lately Ive seem to run into them more, or Ive noticed them more. I ate at Blue Bayou a few weeks ago in Aug, and while our server was less than attentive and dinner was overpriced, one of the front desk girls was so amazing. She was more than a model Cast Member, she would make an awesome Ambassador. I gave her a special thank you on our way out.

Re: Some observations...
Sounds like you had a great birthday.Do you have any pictures from your trip that you could share? It's really cool that they picked you on Splash Mountain. So when you say that they used your picture, where did they put it? In a frame hanging on one of the walls?

Some observations...
Well, we just got back from Disneyland and DCA and had an amazing time as usual! They actually picked us out on Splash Mountain and asked us to go on again so they could use our image!! We signed the waivers, and away we went!! I was soaked but they gave us a free photo pass (including a free cd of our pictures) and a 5 x 7 so it was awesome!
Big Thunder BBQ was amazing, the entertainment was really fun! We also enjoyed Steakhouse 55 since it was my birthday and my bestfriend's birthday!
All in all, an amazing trip...
Unfortunately, why does poor service always stand out?? There were so many great castmembers but there were a couple who acted as if they would rather be anywhere else but at Disneyland! I wanted to tell them that I would love to have their job! I am in retail and have been for over 25 years, I understand that dealing with people day in and day out can be difficult to almost impossible, but in a simple transaction where you are just ringing me up would it be too difficult to smile? I don't want bells and whistles, just a smile!
Anyway, had a great time and hopefully, someday you will meet me at Disneyland and when I ring you up, I will smile!!Tags: None
