[Question] 55th Anniversary Celebration???

With all this talk about next years theme being about "volunteering in the community" and what not, does that mean that it's not going to be a 55th Anniversary theme? What happened to the World of Wonder Parade that was supposedly going to come to the park...I miss classic Disney Parades...It's not that I hate Celebrate! it's just it doesn't feel right...I don't know. I was just hoping that 2010 would bring a big anniversary celebration like the park has done for the past few decades...

Anyone know anymore about whats going on?

No News yet, Im sure AL will start talking about the 55th in his next article, I'm hoping for a real parade too but we won't know for a little while (at least after Halloween)

To be brutally honest, I think we're getting nothing specifically for the 55th. And I think Al has been hinting around for a while that nothing is happening. He may not be mentioning it because there's nothing to mention, and he believes we all got the clue by now. He did say quite a while back that World of Wonder was off, but I guess I just hoped he was wrong, or they were retooling it, or coming up with a new idea... And then Magical killed any hopes I had of 55th fireworks. So yeah, nothing. It sucks.

and Al has a lot of other stuff to talk about soooo I'm sure he will once the Holiday season is over.

If DL ends up doing something bigger than Epcot got for its 25th, or AK got for its 10th, I will be pleasantly surprised. But I'm getting the strong feeling that the same attitude WDW has developed toward anniversaries may be infecting DLR now. I.E., truly celebrating an anniversary properly just gets in the way of the current BS marketing campaign. The marketing campaign is more important than anything real that's actually worth celebrating.

Now, just so I don't get people jumping all over me, I think it's great that Disney is promoting community service and volunteering. That doesn't preclude them from celebrating the 55th though. Also, think about it for a minute. What are they actually doing for this promotion? They tell everyone to go out and do volunteering, and they get a free ticket. They aren't the ones supervising the work, they aren't really putting any of their money towards it (yes, the free tickets, but they were doing that already). They're basically getting lots of publicity for doing very little.

I don't hate Celebrate, but it's not strong enough to be DL's only parade offering. It's a good additional offering, which is what it was designed as, not the main day parade. DL needs a grand spectacle during the day.
