  • [Question] a few questions (please chime in)

    Hello everyone!

So our friends and us are goign to the park 10-26 through the 30th. 9 people total (4 kids and 1 infant) And I had a few Questions for the group.

Anybody want to venture a guess at how busy it will be? It is monday-friday, but pretty close to halloween.

Looks like fantasmic will only be on friday night. (looking at previous weeks schedule). We are already on a tight budget so I am torn about seating...Do you think it will be packed at fantasmic and it would be better for the kids to splurg and get preferred seating? Or do you think we would be OK sitting on a spot before the show?

    Thanks for your help!!!

I think the sticky (along w/ other threads on the same subject) When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition can shed light on busy days.

In the past, When Halloween starts up (sept 25) that weekend is crazy. During the week may not be so bad. Get towards Thursday and the crowds will pick up espec. Friday and Saturday with F! going (since it was delayed this summer).

    With F! and seating:
If you get your spot around 5 pm you'll have good seat, but it will be packed for the show, always is (don't care what season it is). Yes, you can't rides but you have to choose...good seats or rides.
Great time to nap (bring blankets...one for the ground, other's to keep warm) and have someone grab dinner.

To that end I'd like the Internet community to join me in reminding the Disney company that "it all started with Walt." As you can see below we've created some T-shirts, plus a few simple graphics that you can copy and paste into your websites to let folks know how you feel.

I don't think it will be that crowded but idk.
Fantasmic! will probably be crazy. I've only seen it twice and I go to Disneyland many times in a year. The reason I've only seen it twice is because Fantasmic! is always sooo crowded. I would just get preferred seating if you can afford it

I'd say with 4 kids and 1 infant you'll be exhausted come Friday anyways. I'd say your best bet is just to save the money and get there (like was said previously) around 5, park yourselves down and wait. I'd suggest sending someone off to get food and bring it back and eating dinner there, maybe bringing a few little things to do like cards or something (pending the age of the kids) and bring blankets (this is a must to mark your "territory" around ROA!). Since it sounds like you have 4 adults if you have 2 pairs that are daring you can even send them off and ride the rides in the area with the kids (most likely for a second time), anything to keep them busy 'cause they'll get fidgety.

Also, right after F! STAY IN YOUR SPOT, and watch fireworks from there, unfortunately since fireworks and F! both only show on Friday you sort of have to sacrifice the full firework experience in front of the castle for F!. The only way around this is to see fireworks (and wait for that instead) and then see F! at the second showing at 1030. However it is virtually impossible to get good seats for the second F! without preferred seating, and preferred seating, like I said before, just don't do it. It's a lot of money for something not that great.

        Hope this helps!

With little ones it will be tough to try and find standing room to watch F! I normally go around an hour to 45 minutes before the show starts and always find my spot to watch it from. For seating though unless you want to get a spot to sit and watch you may have to round up some troops who will save spots for you. Like LittleImaginer said if you have the cash for preferred seating then go for it.

I would expect the weekends to be busy during Halloween time. As for during the week I don't think it will be a hassle with crowds like it is during the summer.

If I were in your position I would stake out some seats on Friday around 5pm for Fantasmic. If you will be there the whole week, then missing a few rides for a few hours wont be much of a big deal. Plus with all those kids, sitting will be nice :]

Whatever you guys end up doing, have fun!

Thanks Everyone! Pretty divided thus far...Yes we do have four adults one of course will be pretty tied up with the infant. Riding rides while staking out a area wouldn't be that bad, we are all pretty brave parents. (crazy but brave)

              So the next question....

If we were to get there at 5 and claim a spot were would be the best place to do this...I am thinking something right next to the river to relieve the concerns of the kids not being able to see. However I am still not sold on doing that. The kids are all under 10 y/o. 2-7 y/o; 1- 3y/o; 1/9 y/o; and the baby

Thanks again for your suggestions keep them coming!

Right next to the river would be your best bet for a great view of the show, and you'll be able to feel the heat from the fire.

As for getting there at 5pm and having someone miss out on rides, don't even worry. Monday-Friday before 4pm you'll be able to do every ride multiple times. October, mid-week during the day is my favorite time of year, you're going to love it.

If Fantasmic! starts at 9pm, you should probably set up shifts with the other, non infant toting, adults. That way one person doesn't get stuck by themselves forever.
