  • [Question] Time in Star Tours II

My apologies if this point has been brought up already in one of the Star Tours II threads...

Star Tours site EndorExpress.Net has brought up a very interesting point about the upcoming attraction. If you look at the full-resolution preview image of Star Tours II, you'll notice that the craft it features is not the Star Speeder 3000 we know and (perhaps) love...

It's the Star Speeder 1000. At first, this confused me- if this is the new Star Tours why would we be seeing an older generation of Star Speeder?

But of course, when you think about it, this makes sense. Without getting too Star Wars geek on everyone (and I'm not a good authority on such matters anyway), we can place Star Tours I in the era of the original Star Wars trilogy (IV-V) because of the presence of the Death Star, rebel fighters, etc.

But the footage we've seen of the Podracing sequence- corroborated by the Star Speeder markings- implies that this adventure is taking place in the era of Phantom Menance, some decades earlier.

But on the other hand we have reports of Boba Fett and other original-trilogy-era characters being featured in some adventures. If this be the case, how will Disney make sense out of the fact that certain rides will be taking place in different time periods than others? What time does this place the Star Port of Star Tours in?

Prequels means older, so maybe that means 3000 is now 1000?

Great observation I knew something was odd when I first saw the picture, of course the colors aren't the same and you just explained why. And I guess a good way you can explain the jumps in time could be that you go sooo fast you go into the future? Idk, thats what I got.

Bobba Fett was in the prequels. It's ok.

If they end up having the random story lines, they could have one set in the prequel era and another story that takes place in the original trillogy era. easy

I have only speculation to offer, but I'd imagine that the queue will be somehow chronologically ambiguous, and then the different film possibilities will occur in either the prequel era or the OT era.

Or...you know...the Star Speeder could just get some "red matter" and jump back in time through a black hole to change the past...could get a whole new actor to play Luke, and he'll be a total delinquent because Anakin died when he was born...

I think that both attractions would occur in the time between the two trilogies. This one will be slightly earlier then the original, which would allow us to visit pretty much every planet featured in the whole series all within the relatively same time period.

It could just be that they don't necessarily have their entire fleet as the "fancy" Starspeeder 3000s. They could have some older models mixed in.

Re: Time in Star Tours II

I think Disney's going to do whatever they want with the story, regardless of how it fits the Star Wars series. Just like they did with the current Star Tours. I mean, the first Death Star was never shown over Endor, and it especially wasn't blown up over Endor. And in the ensuing battle, R2 D2 is supposed to be in Luke's X Wing, yet he's on our Starspeeder...
Yeah, my guess is Disney is just going to continue to take liberties with the series. And I'm fine with that. Just as long as the new ride still rocks!
