  • [Question] Costco Annual DL Passes

My luck . . . I'm finally ready to buy the year passes they've had at my local Costco (Central Cal.) forever and now they don't have them anymore
Does anyone know if any other Costco's in the L.A. area have them?
    I'm looking for 4 passes.

I'm pretty sure they have been discontinued and replaced with a new 4-day "year-long" hopper.

you wanna get a discount on AP's, here is a tidbit from my socal buddy who is the cheapest man on planet earth.

Head down to the hotels, and look for people who are checking out or head into the parking lot and do the same and ask them if you can have their hopper tickets. Perhaps make up a story, maybe offer them $10 bucks or whatever who knows.

Then take that park hopper ticket to the window outside tell them youve decided to upgrade to a annual pass and they will apply the amount paid for that hopper to the price of the annual pass.

Do you know if the tickets have to have at least one day left on them to upgrade or can you upgrade -- let's say from a 3-day hopper ticket -- even though it has been used all 3 days?

As long as its still "active" it doesnt have to have any days left on it. So thats why he gets them as people are leaving.

But Im not sure I would trust it 100%, though he just did it a few weeks back when he had some relatives in town using hoppers on the last day he took their tickets down and upgraded to AP's.

He also told me that upgrading AP's was pro-rated and I tried that and it didnt work. So for instance if you purchased just a deluxe and then in the summer decided to go on black out days, you could upgrade to premium but only pay the difference for half the year. I tried that and it failed. I was forced to either pay blackout day pass or upgrade the ticket.

What passholder is suggesting is strictly against the rules.

Furthermore, if anybody attempts it, Disneyland knows when that ticket was purchased, how it was purchased and where it was purchased, and might ask you to answer that information.

MAH, I can tell you that this may or may not be true, I dont know, honestly I kind of regretted posting it, but I know its done and has been done for years. But what I do know is that when I upgraded my hopper to an AP (legitimately) last year, I was not asked any questions.

We were there on a blackout weekend and hadnt gotten AP's yet for the year, it was our first trip after our old ones had expired, so we bought hoppers so that we could go in those black-out days on 4th of July weekend, plus have early entry AND then at the end of our trip we upgraded to Deluxe AP's and the amount of the hopper was credited towards the AP.

Had we just purchased Premium AP's from the get go, it is what $100 more for our family of 4, so we saved $400 by doing it that way.

What you are suggesting can be done. It is still against the rules to transfer ticket, and sometimes the castmember will ask questions. Those kinds of scams make Disney tickets more expensive for everybody else.

This is why Disneyland is starting to put in place much stricter name-checking policies, beginning with these new Costco 4-day tickets. Hopefully Disney starts adapting biometric scans to stop the scamming.

I didnt transfer tickets, my buddy claims too. Look, I dont do it, I have a friend who has for years, the worst part is he lives in OC, he can get his AP cheap.

We have a family of 4, we buy AP's because we come down 3-5 times a year, never try to cheat anyone, when our son turned 3, we didnt fake it we didnt try to hide it or sneak him in or say he was 2, he paid full freight!!!!

I thought my move was pretty savvy last year though buying us hopper tickets so we could go on a blackout weekend plus early entry then at the end of the trip turn those into Deluxe AP's rather than Premium.
