  • Trip Report Pirates

So just got back from a 3-day trip, seems that some of the "issues" on Pirates were worked out from the last time I was there in the summer.

When we were there in the summer, the whole scene where the donkey is seemed amiss.

Sometimes the donkey was there, sometimes not...the one in the window with the singers. Then just past that up on the left was "dark" when we were there in the summer, now it seems to be restored with the hat guy and the two other pirates hugging and singing and the fire scenes appear to be restored as well.

What happened to the crab? My daughter always noticed the crab on the beach and it is gone.

That issue was fixed, but the cannonballs weren't splashing, except for maybe 1 or 2, and fireflies weren't working. Also one of the times we rode, the ricochet sound from the gun shooting the window above the mayor in the well wasn't there. We missed the crab, too!

The big one for us was getting stuck for 45 minutes Saturday when the ride completely shut down. We were just entering the jail scene. However, this was kinda cool because they turned on the lights and had CMs come out to talk to the people in the boats. At least they turned off the music/sound after about 15 minutes. It was kinda weird to see the AA moving with no sound. They were finally able to manually cycle boats through each braking zone. We got out just in time to make our 6:30 reservation for Cafe Orleans. We got a re-admit pass good at any ride for our trouble. We used it on Matterhorn since the lines had been pretty long all weekend.

Heh, forgot about the Crab. And on our last ride on Friday the Cannon Ball splashes were down...
I open a toy, review it and take mediocore pictures. Read all about it HERE!

The crab seems to come and go as well.
        Good morning, son
        In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
        It was pain
        Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

When I rode late Saturday, the cannonballs were working but the crab and fireflies were missing.

            Re: Pirates

The past couple weeks all the chasers were finally working. The kitten on the right was missing two weeks ago and Saturday it was back but not adjusted properly - it's poor little head was snapping back and forth way too fast.

              Re: Pirates

On Sunday the main thing we noticed was that the mist/fog was really thick, and the splashes were exceptionally high. I got drenched more than I usually do on Splash Mtn. There was even water dripping from the ceiling during the slope back up to the top.

^Wow. When they said "Thar be squalls ahead", they must have meant it that time.

On Saturday there was hardly any fog in the afternoon but it was very thick at night.

I rode splash on Sunday night, I was in the front and got absolutely soaked head to toe, it was like someone dumped a bucket of water on top of me, twice, no ducking or anything because water just dumped into the log, nowhere to go.

As for Pirates, I too noticed the fog being really thick most of the weekend, but Monday morning it seemed to be a little less.

I also noticed on Sunday the fog was so thick I could barely see the ship. Splash seemed normal to me, though...

                        Re: Pirates

Yeah, this past Friday the crab was still missing. The fog was the thickest I've ever noticed too, but there were a couple fireflies working in the bayou.

There's another thing I've been wondering about Pirates. It used to be that the mayor's wife in the windows above the well would slam the shutters shut and then the flower pots just below would "react". Best way I can describe it is that they'd shake due to the shutter slam. Way back when, they would comically react at the wrong time, but they do nothing now. Does anyone else remember that?

I remember it...I believe the movement was caused when the gun shot hit them
I think it changed when the put the unnecessary movie changes in the ride

To that end I'd like the Internet community to join me in reminding the Disney company that "it all started with Walt." As you can see below we've created some T-shirts, plus a few simple graphics that you can copy and paste into your websites to let folks know how you feel.

D rather having the cannons working than the crab.
