[Question] Anyone used Hotwire for hotels?

Okay, my friends call me a hotel snoot. I usually am willing to pay more $$ to stay in a nicer place. With that being said, I've never used a site such as hotwire or priceline to book a hotel room.

I'm trying to save $$ on this DL trip and am using different means (sorry, AAA) to get cheaper prices on my hotel and tickets.

I'm looking at hotwire and they have a 3 star hotel listed for $54 -Anaheim 0isneyland North hotel. Smoke free rooms, fitness center, pool(s), business center, laundry facilities and high-speed internet access. Has anyone used hotwire recently and might know which property this is?

I have used Hotwire to book 3 out of 4 of our hotels for our up and coming trip.
You can research the hotels on Priceline and Hotwire Forum to get an idea of which hotel it may be.

I have used Hotwire to book the Hyatt Regency and the Anaheim Hilton. I booked them by specifyng 3 1/2 star hotels at a minimum and got them both for about $50 per night. I booked these rooms more than a month in advance so that may have worked in my favor.

I used Priceline to try the same thing last month but they couldn't get me a 3 1/2 star hotel for $50 per night. I had to choose between increasing my bid, lowering my requirement to 3 stars or waiting and trying the same bid another day.

I decided to lower my requirement to 3 stars and it landed me the Holiday Inn on Manchester next to I-5. It wasn't a bad hotel but it certainly wasn't as comfortable or nice as the Hilton or Hyatt Regency. I was surprised to see such a significant difference between 3 star hotels and 3 1/2 star hotels.

From now on I will require my Hotwire and Priceline bids to be 3 1/2 star hotels up to $65 or $70 per night.

You can also go to Priceline and Hotwire Forum and usually can through their boards can figure out exactly what hotel Hotwire and/or Priceline is offering.

I've used them for Vegas many times and figured out that I was getting the Wynn for $92 p/nt. Not too shabby in my opinion.

I always go to betterbidding.com to check the hotel first. Most people list what their results were and they have a good list going.

We have used Hotwire for hotels a few times, but never for Disneyland. We found that you get the worst rooms in the hotels when you book through Hotwire. One example would be a room we had in San Francisco that was across the hall from the boiler room and below sidewalk level; SOOOOOO loud!!! We didn't sleep the whole week. We were also in the "annex" building across the street, which made pool access pretty difficult. Another example would be the Westin in Seattle where we were level with the roof of the lobby that stretched between the 2 towers, and were directly across from the elevator, on the 6th floor of 20+ storey towers. So it depends on your standards; we were fine with the Westin, but the room in San Francisco SUCKED!!!
