[Question] Renewing my Pass?

So this is my first year owning an AP and my Friend told me that if you Renew your AP you get LAST years prices on the passes. Yet when my Renew slip came in the mail it said it would be 409 for a pass (not 390).
So was my friend wrong or do I have to Renew online to get a cheaper price?

Your friend is wrong for the MOST part.

For a short time after Disney announces a price increase on AP's, they do honor the lower price, but it is only for about 30 days.

Premium and Deluxe AP's do get a $20 discount for renewing, and you get the discount even if you are a current SoCal AP holder that decides to upgrade to the higher level.
