Sorry to be nitpicky, but this kind of bugs me. If Maleficent rises during her transformation into a dragon, why do we only see her upper torso? Is she so heavy during her transformation that she breaks the stage and falls through the floor? )

Apparently, Mickey's imagination isn't big enough to imagine the whole dragon.
Seriously though, I was wondering that myself. The dragon seems be be holding onto two castle spires, and when I saw that I was like, "wait, so the ROA is a castle now?"

because dragons walk on all fours... not up right like a human
It's an illusion to make her seem bigger, since waht we see is so big, and we're only seeing have of Murphy/Maleficent's body. And story-wise, I think it's supposed to be like in Sleeping Beauty, where she's at the castle, blowing fire at Prince Phillip, so it's making the island appear as part of a castle there or something. I think we're supposed to assume the pillars were always there, and it gives the illusion that there's a drop behind them that Maleficent is in or something. I think it was smart, because most people don't notice that suddenly there's pillars there. The dragon's out for such a short time, most people see it and think, "Wow, its huge! And, wait, its only half its body!"
ya, but still, it's kind of random to have castle turrets poking up out of an island on the ROA based on tom sawyer's late 1800s Missouri (as well as 18th century pirates...hmm)
i think it would be pretty cool to see a giant tail behind her swishing about..)
same here.....but I'm happy with what we have....if they added a tail now....she might get another case of "stage fright" for another 3 months...and we wouldn't want that, now would we?

It's also weird to have an amazon snake, pink elephants, a puppet, eels, princesses, and pirates on the ROA based on tom sawyer's late 1800s missouri as well as 18th century pirates..... It's a show on IMAGINATION......anything can happen.

Yes, but so are neon dancing monkeys, huge puppets that move by themselves, and a talking mouse. That's just plain weird.

The show itself doesn't take place on an island in Missouri. It takes place in Mickey's Imagination where anything is possible. If Mickey wants a dragon with turrets, then fine .

with the new lighting effects introduced last year though, the whole stage becomes the patch of thorns surrounding the castle.. whenever any character enters the show, be it the monkeys and kaa, peter pan, or the evil witch, mickey's dream is, in most dreamlike fashion, jumping to a mind's representation of that character's surroundings, be it the jungle, the jolly roger sailing the waters, or the hag's dungeon with her cauldron, etc.. That mickey suddenly finds himself trapped in the thorn-patch and at the gates of the castle as maleficent stakes her claim over his dream and imagination is not far-fetched at all.

Whats even wierder is the bricks around the island are made with 1900's brickstamping technology and the haunted mansion from the same old period has drywall in it!
Why are we worried about this? The old dragon never had a tail so why do we care now when the dragon is twice as sophisticated and twice as impressive?
