  • [Question] Pirates Lair info

So, I was catching up on some old (and I mean really old!) Disneyland podcasts this morning and while listening to one they were talking about all the cool things that the new Pirates Lair was going to have after it re-opened in May of 2008. They said that there were going to be pirates there to meet you, give you a map and pirate name, that there were going to be pirates on the island including Jack Sparrow and a pirate band. This all sounds like lots of fun, but when I took my girls there there was none of this. It was basically Tom Sawyers Island with some pirates and they even made it so you can't go in the fort.
    Anyone know what happened?

wow, I figured someone would know what happened. It just sounded like it would have been so much more fun than what is there now.

I remember going the first few days this was open, and all of this was here, it was really fun. I recently went and only had one pirate give me a name and saw Jack Sparrow once, dont know what happened.

Yup, I have the maps, but no pics of them, sorry. I'll have to dig them up.

To bad they did not keep it going, even if they toned it down a bit. It really sounded like lots of fun! Oh well, I will just have to put it on my "should have done" list.

It's such a sad tale of theme destruction, inability of some of the population to read and comprehend literature, and guest short attention span disorder, that it's just too hard for some of us to talk about.

                    Re: Pirates Lair info

Jack Sparrow is no longer at DL...issues with female visitors not knowing how to act appropriately in public.

The interactive pirate things in the cave are fun!! But, not intuitive..some people just walk thru without knowing there are things to touch that will produce effects.

The bone cage is a great place for pictures.

You can raise a pirate chest that has a skeleton attached...

Another photo op with a chest and treasure (this is where the Jack Sparrow meet and greet USED to be)
