[Question] Non-Disney Music at DL

[Not My Real Name]

Were you aware that the music played in the Primeval World section of DLRR is not Disney music? It's actually the theme music from the 1961 movie Mysterious Island from Columbia Pictures, and it features the great special effects work of Ray Harryhausen. I know because I've seen this movie about twenty-five times on TV.

As for other non-Disney music, there is some played at DCA, including The Beach Boys and the Mamas and the Papas (California Dreamin' of course).

Is there any more non-Disney music at the parks?

Star Wars and Indiana Jones theme songs for a start LOL. Both scores are by John Williams.

Star Tours and Indiana Jones come to mind. [EDIT: Beaten to the punch!] Oh, and there's the twisted version of Wagner's bridal march in the Haunted Mansion.

Outside Soarin' and I believe in it's queue, they play several different selections from aviation or military-themed movies. Gustav Holst's "The Planets" re-worked for "The Right Stuff" comes to mind as well as the theme from "Patton".

Oklahoma is played a lot on Main St., along with the Music Man.
Also, You Can't Stop the Beat in the Celebrate parade.

I consider myself an Aaron Copland expert, haha, and he's actually played a lot at Frontierland. The soundtrack at WDW's Wilderness Lodge also features a lot him. And Copland is definitely a "classical" composer - he was also one of the United States' finest, developing a style of music that would come to be seen as the "American" style, inspiring the type of music you hear in Westerns and, yes, Frontierland.

Don't forget all the jazz played on the loop at New Orleans Square.
Both the Mark Twain and Columbia also feature lots of non-Disney music as does the loop at Big Thunder ranch.
The Village Hause and Plaza Inn each have distinctive loops featuring non-Disney music.
Nemo these days likewise uses some non-Disney music at the end of he voyage.
Up in Toon Town I can hear other non Disney music while waiting on the line at Gadget's Go Coaster with my daughter, such as Mrs. O'Leary's Cow.
Seasonally, the Xmas loop on Main Street (the regular loop was already cited).
The boathouse at The Jungle Cruise when you can hear it, as well the music you hear in line at Indy are both chock filled with non Disney music.

Well, that music circles back to Disney now because it also has Put on your Sunday clothes from Hello Dolly. Which is now in Wall-E. Oh, it's the circle of liiiiiiife.

The Nightmare in the Sky fireworks display ends with "I Put a Spell On You" (which was in Hocus Pocus, but has been in countless other movies - it was originally recorded by "Screamin' Jay Hawkins")

Don't forget about "Baroque Hoedown" from the Main Street/Disney's Electrical Parade, discovered from a Vanguard Records' album, Kaleidoscopic Vibrations by the late Jack Wagner. Also from the Main Street Loop, showtunes like Wells Fargo Wagon, Lida Rose, and Iowa Stubborn (from Meredith Wilson's The Music Man) and Surrey with the Fringe on Top, Many A New Day and Kansas City (from Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma).

And various classical pieces used in Mickey's Toontown like the Peer Gynt Morning Piece, and Dance of the Hours.

All of the queue music at Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones. All of it is period big band music from the 30s and 40s by artists like Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Adelaide Hall, Benny Goodman, Kay Kyser, and others.

A lot of the Tomorrowland Terrace Music is non-Disney. Not sure if that counts?
