Re: re-filling disneyland castle moat
Hmm I dont think it has anything to do with the lights since that can be done with the water in.
It looks like something being done to the brick work/bridge.

I don't think anyone knew they were even going to drain the moat, much less when it will be refilled. They are working on the bridge going over to the Castle right now. Either repairing or replacing some of the fake bricks under the bridge. So hard to tell just how long it will be drained.

They are actually refurbishing the arches under the main bridge. They were completely gutted and making new bricks. All that is there right now is the metal skelaton. If you look from the brige down below, you can see what I'm talking about, it's covered in tarps.

Re: re-filling disneyland castle moat
Note that they have plumbing bypasses for every section of the Dark Water System for maintenance - it forms a continuous loop for filtration and water treatment.
So they just close the valve into the Castle Moat, and it goes around via the bypass pipe. Then they pump the moat water up into the Frontierland entrance pond and it drains through the system, and they collect up the fish with nets and move them to a filled section.
If everything is up and running, it starts at Motorboat Cruise, Storybook Canals, Castle Moat, the lakes flanking the Frontierland and Adventureland entrances, Jungle Cruise, and the Treehouse, then it drains into the Rivers Of America. Cascade Peak on the east side of ROA is the trash racks and the filter plant inlet, and the 'waterfalls' were oxygenation of the water. After the water leaves the filter plant it goes over to Motorboat Cruise and starts the loop again.
The lake on Big Thunder Trail (across from Big Thunder Railroad) is on the Dark Water system, but I think it's a seperate feed and drain back to ROA.
