For Disneyland, not DCA, what should be the next big attraction built, that would be considered an "E-ticket quality" attraction? And where should it be located? Although there are pockets of space here and there around the park, it seems now like anything really big will have to have the bulk of it built outside the berm and have basically the entrance, pre-show and exit within the berm, in the way that Indiana Jones, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain and 'it's a small world' have the bulk of their shows in buildings outside the berm. What do you think should be the next major attraction added?

Re: What should be the next major attraction?
I think the best place would be just left of Big Thunder Ranch. The attraction could hop over the tracks and into some backstage area. A gold mining mine train ride might be neat, but that's probably more appropriate for DCA. In DL, it couldn't be a NWRR style mine train like the former attraction with outdoor scenery, but it might be more like an indoor mine tunnel exploration ride in a showbuilding or two.Last edited by Nautilus; 10-11-2009, 09:58 AM.

Re: What should be the next major attraction?
Mystic point and mystic manor placed on the northbend of the river where the BBQ currently is. Just copy and paste the blueprints from Hong Kong.
Also, is it just me or do the Asian Disney parks have brighter and more exciting lookng futures than the parks stateside?

I'd like to see a new E-Ticket for Frontierland where Festival of Fools was and Big Thunder BBQ is.

And why is there no ride in the states that uses the honey hunt trackless ride system? It just seems like the asian parks are more 21st century while stateside things are more nostalgic and lacking innovation (and big budgets!)
We'll see if little mermaid and carsland might shake this perception I have.
But since this is a DL thread, a Tron lightcycle ride in tomorrowland would be delightful!

Re: What should be the next major attraction?
I would like to see something like the Calico Mine Ride at Knotts. It could have an Indy-style queue to get it under and out of the park, and the rest could be in a showbuilding, maybe even outdoor portions if they arranged the foliage right to hide the surrounding backstage areas

Re: What should be the next major attraction?
My mind would be totally blown if the next press release from the DLR offices included phrases like:
"A giant new land, our biggest expansion ever!"
"...ride vehicle moves and turns in any direction with no visible tracks!"
"...contains dozens of free roaming AAs..."
"...indoor and outdoor..."
"Traveling on an Enhanced Motion Boat (EMB)..."
"...outcome of the story is controlled by the expedition crew aboard each EMB..."
"...queue containing holographic 3DHD screens, no glasses required!"
"Combines three attractions in one!"
"Our longest and most expensive ride ever built!"
"In celebration of our 60th Anniversary!"Last edited by Usul831; 10-11-2009, 01:18 PM.

I just hope it would be an original ride, like pirates or HM are.
The last few rides and even major rehabs have been about movies.
Even though im very excited about them, the rides coming to DCA and Star Tours 2.0 are still movies.
I think it would be nice to have a new E-ticket in Frontierland. It need something new.
And everything

Re: What should be the next major attraction?
Originally posted by Bob Weaver View PostI have always enjoyed the Calico Mine Ride, although in my opinion Disneyland's Mine Train thru Nature's Wonderland was far superior, in fact incomparable, with the Cascade Peak, the Bear River, the Living Desert, the geysers, the Balancing Rock Canyon, the numerous animatronic animals and the amazing Rainbow Caverns. I'd be very happy if they just rebuilt that attraction, though they would have to go outside the berm at this point. The Calico Mine Ride has its own charms too, though, and a Disney version of it would undoubtedly be awesome. On the other hand I'm sort of against Disneyland just copying ride ideas from other parks and "Disnefying" them. To me Splash Mountain was a response to Knott's Calico Log Ride. Better than Knott's version but essentially the same concept. I'd rather have Disney do Disney-only concepts although I think they could come up with an outstanding version of Calico Log Ride.

Re: What should be the next major attraction?
It's kind of weird, Disneyland had a mine train ride, then expanded it in 1960, and also in 1960 Knott's opened their Calico Mine Ride, then Disneyland shut down their mine train in 1977, then opened Big Thunder in 1979, which to me is exactly like what Knott's would have come up with if they had done a runaway mine train ride. But Knott's never did respond to Big Thunder. One thing Knott's had when I was a kid was a Pan for Gold attraction, you walked through a mine tunnel with sounds and displays, then in a gulch at the bottom you actually panned for gold and you ended up with a little glass vial with a tiny fleck of gold in the water. Great fun! Disneyland never had an equivalent to that.
