  • [Question] Ever fell down at the Parks?

Has anyone ever slipped, stumbled, tripped, crashed, at the parks?
I will admit that I have fell more than once, the one I remember most is on a rainy day by the ticket booths It was slippery and you know. I cant live that one down with the Family. I have seen some pretty nasty falls now that I think about it. Ever experienced or seen anything like a nasty fall or an injury of any sort?

Re: Ever fell down at the Parks?

About 4 years ago I was at Disneyland with my daughter, her fiance, and my daughters friend and her mom. My daughters fiance (now husband), is over 6 feet tall, has long legs and walks very fast. We were headed toward Space Mountain, and I was trying to keep my eye on him and wasn't watching where I was going and... the posts coming out of the ground that they use to have around the cosmic wave...yeah, ran smack dab into one, went over the top of it, and ended up falling flat on my face... I ended up with some pretty mean looking bruises on both legs, but at least I got out of riding Space Mt. (No, you guys go on without me... I'll just sit here and wait... )

It was my own fault for not watching where I was going, but if the posts had been taller where I wouldn't have gone over them I might not have fallen. Of course, they're gone now.

I slipped getting into a boat on Pirates. it was late at night so after a full day the boat bottoms were really slippery. I set one foot on the seat and one on the floor of the boat, shifted weight and the foot on the bottom of the boat went out from under me causing me to fall backwards and bend my other leg back behind me. it was an odd position and hard to get up from with the one foot still slipping all over the bottom of the boat. The whole ride I was hoping I'd be able to get out of the boat and actually put weight on that foot. CROCS ARE NOT SLIP RESISTANT! lol

Re: Ever fell down at the Parks?

I will always remember when I fell in the rain when I was 8 years old. I had just gotten back from Toy Story Funhouse and had to run to catch up to my family, when I slipped and fell hard in front of Star Tours. The park was empty but a couple saw me fall and must have thought I died based on how fast they ran to help me. I appreciated the help, and although I was crying, it was just an innocent fall that was funny based on the way they reacted.

Nevertheless, I associate the old Toy Story Funhouse with pain and crying.

Re: Ever fell down at the Parks?

I've slipped and fallen a few times, but never in such a manner as to hurt myself.

Once when I was a kid, though, a careless fellow guest elbowed me in the eye in the queue for Pirates. He never noticed, my mom was too busy making sure I was okay to point out to him that he just clobbered her daughter, and I took home a small shiner. Fun souvenir, no?

Re: Ever fell down at the Parks?

while this isn't a fall.. i received my FIRST BLACK EYE in life a few weeks ago!

a friend and i went on Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy for our first time, the day it opened, on September 25 (or 26th? i forgot). anyway, we boarded the coaster, and passed through the beginning tunnel that they've changed to purple and green. i sat on the left side of the coaster. my friend was to my right. in his excitedness, he starts flailing his arms all over the place, and my head happened to be in his elbows course of travel. needless to say, my right eye got elbowed HARD. and for the rest of the ride, i was in pain (but still enjoyed Ghost Galaxy).

i didn't feel like going to first aid and asking for physical/sport ice.. and everyone else wanted to go to Haunted Mansion Holiday, so i just bought a cherry lemonade slush at the kiosk/cart right next to HMH. and put it on my eye. that night, i already noticed discoloring under my right eye, and for the next few days, i looked like i got in a fight.

it was my first black eye, so i wore is proudly, haha.

I got so excited one time by Ariel's grotto I ran around the corner tripped on the curb and sprawled out face first, sliding a few feet, jumped up (looked around to make sure no one saw (which of course everyone was staring at me )) took off running again. When I finally stopped I had to stop by first aid my hand were all cut up.
I still laugh when I walk by the spot.

Re: Ever fell down at the Parks?

When I was 12 or 13 I was coming down the steps of Main Street Station. It had been raining and I wasn't watching where I was going, but rather watching the Town Square performance of "The Lion King" Celebration. I slipped on a slippery step, fell, put my arms out (stupid), tumbled down half the staircase and ended up fracturing my wrist pretty bad. Of course, Disneyland Security was out in a heartbeat making sure I was okay. My mom was meeting me there anyway (she was doing some shopping), and the Disneyland reps about fell over themselves apologizing and offering an ambulance to take me to UCI. We declined, and drove out to UCI ourselves. Some people who saw me fall mentioned I could "sue Disney" ... ugh, it was my own fault!

Last year when I got off of POTC. The floor was wet because it was a rainy day. When I jump out of the boat I slipped and fell onto a wheelchair that was at the exit. Lucky no one was on the wheelchair.

Of course come to think if it I also fell and twisted my ankle at Six Flags in Texas and fell down a flight of stairs in a parking structure at the Monterrey Bay Aquarium...

Guess that means I'm just a clutz.

I have never fallen or tripped, but my roommate was pushed down on Main Street with all the holiday crowds. This guy just pushed him down.

Now he is freaked out whenever he is in a crowded situation.

Re: Ever fell down at the Parks?

During an E-Ticket night at MK, many years ago, two hyped up teenaged boys were running out of the Splash Mt exit area and knocked me to the ground, hard. Neither one of them stopped to see if I was OK, they just kept on running towards their next destination. My partner shouted out to them, but they only shouted back a lame "sorry" back to us over their shoulders, and kept on running. It was late and fairly dark in that section of the park, so we didn't get a good enough look at them to give an accurate description to security.

Fortunately for me, all I got was a bruised knee and hip and sore wrist from catching my fall on the asphalt. The impact of his larger body slamming into mine was great enough to cause far more damage than I received. Had I been someone much older with less dense bones, I would have broken my knee and hip and wrist and possibly my spine, given the impact when I hit the ground.

If that area hadn't been so dark, I would have sought out security and reported the both of them. No remorse whatsoever for running in the park or slamming me to the ground. To this day, I cringe everytime I see someone running through a crowd anywhere, not just theme parks.

Oh have I ever fallen down!! Once I took a dive off a curb onto Main Street and a crowd started to form...I was so embarrassed that I pretended I was fine and rushed away to the end of Main St. and finally stopped and realized my pants were ripped and I was bleeding from the knees. Also I slipped in front of the waterfall at Grizzly Peak and couldn't get up because my foot kept sliding in the water(could have killed my daughter as she decided to fall down laughing rather than help!!). Also witnessed a pretty funny fall once...I had a kid ask me for directions to Main St. while we were between Matterhorn and Tommorowland Terrace, I pointed him in the right direction and he took off running at full speed apparently not noticing the rope for the parade route and got clotheslined just below the waist and was flung back about 10 feet onto his bum. I truly couldn't even wait to see if he was okay before the laughter hit me(he was fine btw)!!
