[Question] Ghost Galaxy fast pass machines opening late?

Hi,

Friends of ours are at the park today and planned to get there at opening and get FP for Ghost Galaxy first thing. When they raced up to the machines, they were closed. They were closed most of the morning and then when they finally did open and get a FP, the return time was in the evening.

Does anyone know if they did this on purpose to control the crowds or is this some sort of malfunction with the FP system for this ride? We're planning to go on Thursday and were hoping to get a FP for Ghost Galaxy early too.

Today was the CHOC Walk at the Resort and Disneyland was scheduled to open at 10am. But they did want to try and open the park earlier due to expected crowds. Depending on when your friends went, the machines may not have been turned on until 10am with the regularly scheduled opening of the Park. Otherwise, as far as I know, the machines are on and ready with park opening.

The machines were on shortly after 9 AM (park opened early, since the CHOC folks were totally clear of the park), but they turned them off around 10:30, since the ride went 101. We happened to be standing at the air gates, next to be loaded, when the Green Dispatch button broke, and the ride cascaded and they had to bring in the Maintenance staff to fix the dispatch panel.

FYI, whenever an attraction has to close down, the Fastpass machines are turned off until the ride is reopened.

The FastPasses for Ghost Galaxy do go really fast, I went the other morning a little after 9:00am and got a FastPass for 11:30am, when I returned the FastPass return time for 9:30pm.

Is that what happened? I was in the front seat in the second coaster, waiting to get unloaded. Then all of a sudden, I see all these cast members running around, especially in the little room right before you take off. It was cool to actually jump off the coaster without being on the platform though.

Just an FYI about how fast the fastpasses go. I timed it and it seems to be approx. as follows:

Every two (2) minutes in reality, the fastpass return times move up 5 minutes.

Do the math and you see how they are gone by early afternoon.

Anywho, seems the better strategy would be to get the Indy FP and then get on Space first thing in the morning.

Well, if that was how they worked, there wouldn't be any fastpasses available by 6pm, and I have frequently seen them available then.

Lets try it this way, there are so many tickets for every 5 min slot. When those are gone, the time moves up. However, it will always be a minimum of 30 (may be 15) minutes away.

^You are speaking of weekdays (Mon-Thurs) I am assuming. I am speaking of weekends. Sorry for not being very clear....

I was there today at 4:45. All the FastPasses were gone.
