OK. you might be confused as to the title but let me clarify
the last time I went to disneyland was in 05 for grad nite the time before that was a full day and there was no special promotional ads all over every lamp post and resturant to my knowlege anyhow,
and with Ca Adventure in perminant construction mode I just dont wanna go,
the real question is when will I be able to go to disneyland without the whole park done up in a promotional tie in or a holliday overlay or construction. Will I ever get the opritonity to see disneyland without a promotional tie in again?

That seems to be business as usual these days. There are annual campaigns which often run way too long, then there are the holiday campaigns and overlays (which I mostly like very much). There really isn't a "Regular" Disneyland any more. "Celebrations" will run until Disneyland's 55th anniversary starts. That campaign will likely run just over a year.

If we are VERY lucky, perhaps they'll go back to shorter seasonal campaigns after that, but I doubt it.

Now that the parks share campaigns between Disneyland and Disney World, it has become cheaper and easier for them to base a whole year worth of ads and promotions around a common theme.

It would be great to have at least a few months every year where Disneyland is just plain old wonderful - D I S N E Y L A N D

Well that's a couple more years down the road. They do the Halloween and Christmas overlays so as long as you don't go during those times you will see the "regular park" as long as they cancel plans to have the Primeval World dinosaur chewing up Hannah Montana. Kidding. Don't go in the summer because it's too hot and too crowded. March and April are excellent times except for spring break week.

Yea, thats not gonna happen anymore. Now that they've started doing this, they can't stop! It all started with the 50th and they just felt compelled to keep them coming. I would just go anyways. They are not too much of an intrusion, unless you make them to be. And if I'm to understand you, you're not gonna go until 2012? Thats a long time. It's a lot more fun(at least for me) to see all the construction in progess and makes you want to come back to see the finished product!

You will probably never see Disneyland as 'just Disneyland' again. There will always be yearly promotional campaigns as well as seasonal overlays and other gimmicks. They bring in the crowds, so there's no reason they'd stop doing them.

The park without the all-encompassing promotion of old, current, new anything and the spin-offs, as well as tie-ins - has gone the way of Walt. The old un-spammed park is never to return, visual spam is the new norm.

Grr... this makes me mad! Yes, it is very hot, but it is NOT crowded! The crowds that are in the park now are WAY worse than it was all Summer! Saturdays during Summer were perfect. You had the long park hours, moderate crowds, and the full line-up of entertainment! What more could you ask for (except nicer temps )?


And, like everyone else, I feel that we will never have regular Disneyland ever again. Which makes me very sad. :crybye:

Sadly, I don't think so.
There is no more "Wonderful World of Disney" show (or something like it) so Disney is now doing all the ads in house (or it seems). I'm find w/ the esplanade having the signs (and parking), but it would be nice if the park didn't have it.
Walt built his park to take ppl out of the everyday life and transport you into a magical world. Ads all over the park don't exactly keep the illusion alive.

well there have ben sponsers since the beggining but it was done with taste now its everywhere I look Im amazed that the Castle dosnt have a giant ad on it yet or an envelope saying Celebrate! in big letters :P

So I will never go unless I can look over it.
wich meens Disneyland lost a customer.

I would say 2012, but you know when Car's Land makes its big debut that there will undoubtedly be a giant promotion of some kind. But, maybe not. Since it will be such a huge deal on its own, maybe Disney will feel that the new ride is incentive enough to get guests to flock to the parks?

I don't have a problem with promotions in general... but I don't think that promotions need to be advertised via decorations all over the park ala "Celebrate." I think that is a mistake. I also don't like changing the tag line of the park. It should always remain simply "The Happiest Place on Earth."

I don't mind the decorations for a promo, as long as they don't screw up on it.

I actually prefer the "Where Dreams Come True" tag line. I've gotten enough of a reality check at the park to see that "The Happiest Place on Earth" tag line is over exaggerated and should've been replaced a long time ago.

I don't care what the tagline is or what the ad for the park is I just dont want to see the actual park done up like an ad for the park in the park you know what I mean? Its an Ad for something Im already doing thats kinda silly in my mind like I see a ad for Disneyland on TV I say I wanna go I see it in the park I also think I wanna go just not in the same sense you get me?
