[Question] How much does the cast member make?

Hey Guys,

I was wondering how much does a cast member make? let's say they work as a ride operator on space mountain. ex. telling people to get up and exit this way, checking to make sure the belt is fasten.

How about the performer in High School Musical 3? or Aladdin?

last question do Disneyland hire full time cast member or majority are part-time

Disney basically hires Part Time and you work your to Full Time. How long that takes depends on the department, although historically Foods seems to have the quickest Full Time conversion rate.

It's interesting there is a job for "Structural Steel Welders". That seems like something they wouldn't need on a regular basis, but instead would be contracted to a construction company when needed.

They need them all The time. The attractions are very mechanical in nature.

True, but Disney could enact something called an "efficiency wage" (think companies like CostCo and In-N-out) which basically means they pay their castmembers more so they are motivated to be more productive, this also has the added benefit of lower turner-over which means less time training new-hires.

Disney HAS an "effieciency" wage. It's more efficient to pay people as little as possible, have them get frustrated and quit, and hire some more. I guess they figure recruiting and training and outprocessing constantly is cheaper than paying a bit more and keeping an experienced, happy, intelligent staff which is eager to come to work each day as a result. Does anyone remember what top rate for Attractions was 20 years ago? Not much more than it is now. And how much have ticket prices gone up in 20 years...?

I'd say yes! Especially Club 33 because they are primo servers! I wouldn't think a person would even be a server at Club 33 without a TON of experience and even years at Club 33. I've never had less than outstanding service there and I always tip a lot more than normal. Blue Bayou, because of the prices, would also fetch a nice tip, I'd think. (I've not been there in years.)

The other CMs make so little. That's really depressing when you consider that they have to be careful not for anyone to get injured on an attraction, etc. Pathetic! Looks like Warehouse is the place to be at $11+ an hour.

There are plenty of tenured cast members and some of them are eager and happy... but then there are those who are bitter and old and can't be gotten rid of because of how long they've been there.

Don't Cm's also get other benefits too? Like Free tickets. I think 9 and hour is not too bad for a college student, plus i would have fun most the time.

The pay isn't great however the free passes, discounts, shopping at the Company store (50-75% off most stuff) make it better than your average retail job. Heck, would your rather work at Walmart for 8.00 and hour (many people do). Being a part of the Disney atmoshpere is special for a lot of people. Getting ride previews and invitations to special CM's only events and privy to back stage stuff... The Cast Members are all really friendly and have a lot of fun for the most part. I think you'd be surpised how many people have been there many years.

I just saw the pay and tell you that's better then I get at work. I get 8.32 an hour and to start it's 6.75. So I say the pay here is good.
