  • [Question] Blue Fairy Destroyed?

I heard that the Blue Fairy unit of the Electrical Parade was recently destroyed. Can anyone confirm this? This was the first I've heard of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did, some POD floats have already been destroyed. So, why not the Blue Fairy?? The least they could of done is sell the parts on ebay or something.

Hmm... I haven't heard that. I'd assume it's in storage rather than destroyed. Just a hunch. Sucks if that's true, though.

Float bases and stuff that make them move usually recycled, i wouldn't doubt it if it was just recycled for lights and such.

Is it true the the only floats that are still around from Parade of the Stars are Ariel's and Blue Fairy. I hear they are the only two still around the others they destroy.

            I hope not

and I thought the brought back some of the old floats?????
So if they did, I would guess they do keep them

Last time we were there, no one wanted to stay late to see the new floats
and when I returned in Sept (HM 40th), there was no Electrical Parade going (only weekends)

The float currently being used for Mickey's Trick or Treat on the Street has been used SO many different times, in So many different variations, along with the Staircase float used for like thanksgiving and what not.

I saw it slowly being disassembled, along with the some other DEP floats I couldn't distinguish, but idk if they trashed them, or saved them. I would guess they saved them in case they ever wanted to bring them back.

Yes, they do, and often times some of it ends up on eBay. (Like the original Disneyland entry sign that went to John Stamos.)

Save incase they wanted to bring it back or saved for spare parts for something different later on. Either one would make sense.

Put them in storage? Makes sense. It was also rumored for a while that Blue Fariry and Dumbo are going to return to the parade, but I guess not....

There's not much to Electrical Parade floats, so they can easily be disassembled and possibly rebuilt at a later date.

OT: Someone mentioned PoD floats being disassembled, I thought we had a confirmation that they were being left intact temporarily.

Disneyland does destroy floats, thank goodness. It may be sad but necessary otherwise you end up like WDW using the same floats all the time, rarely making something new, and keeping the old stuff around so there isn't any room for new stuff anyways.

That said.. the blue fairy one is an original float from the original parade that's traveled its way from DL to New York to Florida for a while and back to DL. They might've kept that one for storage somewhere, dismantled or not.

They utterly destroyed (very quickly might I add) the Light Tragic units. I hope that they at least are boxing up the Blue Fairy for the parade's rumored return to Main Street. We can only pray... I love the Tink float, I just hate that it replaced a 36-year tradition. I had hoped that hey would upt Tink by Peter Pan and leave the Blue Fairy alone...

Perhaps they're boxing up the Blue Fairy because they're making a new Dreamlight-ish version of the unit....

I can confirm that it was destroyed and became scrap metal. This happened quite a while ago. They did salvage the drive unit because those are easy to reuse for future floats, but yeah, she's gone.

But they recycle old things into new ones. It's too expensive to store big things like floats forever and constantly commission new ones whenever you have a new parade. So you strip and repurpose gear.
