wow good stuff. the 16mm is surprisingly well preserved and it's such a beautiful transfer.

and is it only me, but after watching those two videos, i'm starting to feel that today's disneyland is quite heavily cluttered...

That was...just amazing. The park was so sparse when it first opened, it's crazy and awesome. Jungle Cruise actually looks REALLY cool too. Sucks that it's lasted this long but parts of it haven't or are still there but look cheap/falling apart.

Unbelievable video. Nice job making this film look almost HD. I am a fan of HD video content. I love recording stuff in HD with my canon HV30 and my HD digital camera.

I have home movies my Dad took on July 18, 1955 when our family first went to Disneyland. I got them transferred to VHS a long time ago. I have no idea where to go or how to transfer them to DVD much less get it on YouTube (or some other forum). We also have movies my brother shot in 1959 of the Matterhorn, the skyway, and the Sub ride.

I haven't watched these HD movies yet but will soon.

That's pretty cool. What hits me is that the Disneyland we see in that video was so sparse in mature vegetation! I don't think the park is any more "cluttered" now...it's just greener and more landscaped.

HD is a format - not a quality standard. I can 1080p capture anything - doesn't mean much in it's own right.

Heck, I hope you enjoy my latest HD creation below here, in all it's 1920x1080 glory





While the film stock is possible for great resolution, the lens/lighting quality of the camera and film's condition will be a huge factor. In this video, the camera was quite a nice camera, and the film's condition seems to be fantastic.

The 'resolution doesn't matter' point will become more and more a factor as our world tries to 'HD' everything. We need to recognize quality, not just resolution+framerate. See my above HD example of the grey box updating at infinite fps

But the source is infinite Display is separate from the source.

Just like the video being shown on vimeo may have 1080p format, but isn't being displayed on your monitor at 30fields per second or even 1920x1080 in most cases.

LCDs have fixed resolutions, fixed refresh rates, etc.

The point was that format alone doesn't dictate quality. And these film transfers are great quality, no matter what actual resolution they are.
