[Chat] Clarification needed on it's a small world detail

So with this last refurb, it's a small world had several elements and props, that have been missing for some time, returned. There was one piece, in particular, that never made it to Disneyland from the World's Fair- the Sun in the Finale room, pictured here:



Right? ... Wrong! I present video footage that was taken in 1988 and 1992 that clearly shows the Sun in place in the finale...

So, what I want to know is: why did this fade from people's memories, that it was thought to have been gone since the World's Fair, when, in fact, it did make the move from NY to CA? What are your thoughts on this?

And please note that I'm going to the parks tomorrow, so I won't be able to reply until Sunday. I just needed to get this out here while I was still thinking about it.

Hmm, this is interesting... I didn't realize the Hello and Goodbye rooms had changed so much either.

That sun is one thing I remember the most from when I rode it as a little kid. The weird thing is though, I don't seem to recall it from the last time I rode it before the refurb, which was in 2006. I wonder where it went, and when.

Apparently this isn't something that people really care about. Well except for us three, anyways. :razz:

No one has any insight into this? Either way- I'm glad it's back!

I have no idea why people wouldn't remember something like that. I certainly noticed that it went missing after the Mattel refurb. I'd been missing it for all those years until I saw it back in place.

I still miss the butterflies and heraldic banners, though. The other stuff is cute, but...well, dang. What about my childhood?

I think around 1992, IASW was closed and was refurbished, featuring some elements(like in the hello and goodbye rooms) from DLP's version.

When I was a kid, in the late 1960s and 1970s, the finale room of the ride was all white - all the figures were wearing white and it was mostly white lights - very little color.
