  • [Fun] Attraction you like the least... and how would you fix it?

We all have our favorite attractions as well as those that we really can't stand. People around here tend to be pretty vocal about what they like, what they don't like and what they would like to see at their local Disney park(s). The concept for this thread is to take your least-favorite attraction and describe how you would make it into something you (and hopefully others) would really enjoy.

(Just saying 'I'd rip it out and replace it with X' does not count. That is, unless you have a really creative idea for a new attraction to replace it with.)

For Big Thunder Mountain Railroad I would add a slow, meandering section at the beginning that goes through the area west of the attraction's location, so you can take in the sights of that area, enjoy the fully-grown forest, rebuild the Rainbow Caverns and have it go through that at the slow rate, then climb to a higher elevation. Then the fast part like it has now, except faster, longer and darker than it is now. And redesign the train itself so that it looks completely different and is not a reminder of the fatal accident.

      gadget's go coaster.
(although i remember it as chip and dale's go coaster)

you stand in like for half an hour, for 30 seconds of ride time.

i don't know how to make it better though

Man, you got to forget about that. Don't live life in fear of death. Akuna Matata....

I would make Goofy's Sky School indoor, well when it rethemes at least.

Thanks Mr. Eisner. Enjoying your $570 million?
Big Thunder is only a Knott's-quality ride as it stands now. To be brought up to Disney quality it needs to be a lot longer and have a lot more show added.

            Let's see...

Well there's that empty piece of track on Tomorrowland, but that's not really an attraction...

            ...and Snow White's too easy....

I'll get back to you on that!

Before any real arguing begins in this thread, please let me remind everybody that it is supposed to be a FUN thread. In the spirit of that, please do not post negative opinions about other's ideas that are posted here. :beg:

This is a forum for people to tell us about an attraction that they don't like, and then tell us how they would improve upon it. If you disagree with those people, then that's just your opinion and that doesn't mean that they are wrong, and there is no reason to argue over it. Of course, if you'd like to compliment anybody's ideas on how they'd improve an attraction, then I gladly invite you to do so!

I really want this thread to be fun and not turn into litter box fodder. Permanecer sentado, por favor.

The OP thanks you, in advance, for your cooperation.

Innovations...there is no way to fix it, it's a big round advertisement.

Actually, there is. Convert the entire building into a model home of the future sans plastic! And no, not the dream home that's currently there, but a home with an actual layout!

...or you can just place the Carousel of Progress there...

Seriously? Are you joking? I don't know if you have been to Knott's recently but Big Thunder is superior to every attraction there. Not every ride needs to be a big show stopper.

                    I would totally retheme FNSV.

                      This.

                      BTMRR is fine.

Maybe we should form a gang and just steal it back from WDW!

i would change It's a Small World to something fun.

i do agree with Bob Weaver in that BTMRR needs more show. i know there's a story behind the ride, but i really get no sense of the story whatsoever when riding it. if i remember correctly it's about some ghost that haunts the train.. or something? simple "1800-esque" (or whatever time-era it hails from) posters signifying that the ride is haunted would help, or even "caution: runaway train" signs.. even if they'd just be overlooked after your first time seeing them.

I'd go with retheming FNSV as well. It's something that I can imagine Disney doing at some point. I wouldn't mind it being a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea adventure again with a giant squid.

Re: Attraction you like the least... and how would you fix it?

First off, thanks for posting such a thread. I have to giggle. For so long, we're more than willing to condemn what we dislike, but rarely go about fixing it....so I like this thread.

For me, I don't like It's a Small World. My first improvement would be to hand out three baseballs at the beginning, but such violence and the ability to reset the little critters would be time consuming.

But I find the theme of international brotherhood is essential and important. And the one in Disneyland is actually a huge presentation--and doesn't have the fungus growing on it like the one in Disney World. I'd go ahead and further cultural relevance--and this was recently done--by adding characters from famous tales, so we can see the links to our own selves. Where's Paul Bunyan in North America? I do know they have Alice in Britain, but let's go farther!

                                  Peace,

Although it's an attraction that I like - my wife has always suggested that Splash Mountain offer an alternative ride without the big drop so everyone can ride and enjoy the majority of the story and animatronics. Maybe a detour at the end.

I'm all for replacing Finding Nemo with Captain Nemo.

I also agree with everyone who said that Innovations should become Carousel of Progress again.

Also, I think BTMRR is MUCH superior to anything at Knott's. Seriously.

Seconding (thirding?) this! If they must have Disney characters, Ariel can fill in for the original mermaid (assuming she can take time off from it's a small world).
