  • [Idea] move a themed area from disneyland to dca.

since Walt Disney started his career with drawing, and animation, why not move toontown over to dca?

and..................(if there is enough room) put a california version of expedition everest, or a castle themed specifically for one of the other princesses(belle, cinderella, snow white, to name a few)

    My response is simple:

    Where's the California in it?

You say you want toontown, but then you add Everest (Matterhorn) and a Princess-themed Castle.

    You're essentially creating another Disneyland.

In real life, I can't see Disney spending to "move" an entire land that they've already built, for purely thematic reasons. If they ever did, I'd be worried that the new Toontown would be done with cheaper theming (I love the theming of Toontown), while the old one would be the site of a newly expanded Princess Fantasy Faire, or something .

Ideally, it would be cool if you could go down a tunnel from HPB and wind up in Toontown, just like in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but I think it also works extending off of Fantasyland as it does.

Speaking of films set in Hollywood, I wouldn't mind seeing a Cats Don't Dance attraction in HPB. Too bad A) Disney doesn't own it and B) it's rather obscure.

Expedition: Bigfoot is an idea I could get behind.

I agree that the princess castle would be out of theme in California and seem too much like DL. One iconic castle per resort keeps it special. Also, in DL, it acts as a gateway to Fantasyland. What would it act as a gateway to in DCA?

I don't think we will see a typical "princess castle" at DCA, but there is a high probability that either now or in the future the outside theming of The Little Mermaid attraction might include some part of Triton's castle. And that would fit perfectly in that area. If not, I think that is still the best suited "castle" for DCA.
A Bigfoot themed thrill ride sounds awesome. I'm not sure if it should be a mountain, maybe more like Indy with offroad vehicles? I would love to see something like that.
And I agree that the Country Bears could find a home at DCA. Why not? I think most people miss 'em.

I love Cats Don't Dance! I think it would fit well with the theming. And nobody really knows about it now...

As much as I love Expedition: Everest, I would vote no to "Bigfoot." There's already Abominable Snowman on the Matterhorn, do we really need Bigfoot too?

Also, speaking of castles, I feel like only Cinderella and Aurora have castles...and I'd say no to castles in DCA. The only castle I'd accept is a sand castle.

Re: move a themed area from disneyland to dca.

with all this talk about big foot and castles, why not big foot's castle, eh, eh?

Anyway, I would imagine that a fun creative thing to do for an imagineer is create. I doubt moving old ideas from a park fifty feet away from you is using much imagination. There are so many different icons in California that it's sort of difficult to pick on that says CALIFORNIA. I think the CALIFORNIA letters are pretty iconic, too bad they are being torn down. I never liked the Golden gate bridge being your first landmark inside the park. Unlike the little tunnels you enter to get into Main Street U.S.A., that have the commemorative plaques over them, The Golden Gate Bridge just stands there as though your about to visit some cheesy museum.

They should come up with an amalgamation of iconic things that make up California and make it a big thing. I have no clue what that could be, but I never thought the entrance to DCA has ever been as enticing as Disneyland's. I think it would be cool if the CALIFORNIA letters were brought into the park instead of being outside.

I'd say move Toon Town to where A Bug's Land is. It would fit a lot better in DCA. Use that portion in Disneyland to create a new land that includes Small World and the Finding Nemo subs. Like maybe Voyageland? Where you see different areas and cultures of the world in different capacities.

DCA needs more trees and more E-ticket-level rides.
I'd like to see a Yosemite train, with the 11 famous waterfalls, the Merced River, Half Dome, El Capitan, Glacier Point, even the discontinued firefall.
I'd also like to see an area dedicated to the Native population of California, who have been living here for 8,000 years.

Toontown works well enough at Disneyland, and it already has a backstory. The official Disney history is that Toontown existed long before Disneyland, and that one day Mickey suggested to Walt that he build his themepark next to the town, and that only recently was it open to the human world. At least that is the story given in an imagineering book I have. But it makes sense since the look of toontown is very 1930s, right down to the music.

Relocating toontown would end up costing millions. DCA could always use some more E tickets, but we have to consider now that DCA does have a space issue. After Carsland, there really won't be a whole lot of expansion room left.
