  • News Disney releases details on upcoming Mobile Magic for wait times

    From Disney Parks Blog:

"You’ll recall that Mobile Magic is bringing attraction wait times, FASTPASS return times, extensive information on character locations and more for Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks to your Verizon Wireless phone. Development work has been ongoing but the team recently offered a walkthrough of the app and it’s looking great.

Attraction wait times on your Verizon Wireless device will be unique. There’s been an investment in the backend infrastructure to support Mobile Magic and offer actual wait times based directly on Disney Parks information.
As for FASTPASS, you’ll be able to check if it’s still available for specific attractions. And if FASTPASS is available, the app will deliver information about the next return time. So, if you can still get a FASTPASS, the application will show, for example: FP: 4:00-5:00 p.m."

I really hope so. I have the DLP Walkee app on my iPhone, it comes in handy, but its user based. So times are spotty and are occasionally updated. A Disney developed official app with FP times would be amazing. That's something no app has is FP times.

            Do it for iPhone's Disney!

Why would Apple limit themselves to only AT&T?
(Note that I'm a Mac user, iPhone craver, and huge supporter of all things Apple, except their initial decision to go only with AT&T)

Once the iPhone comes to Verizon (if it ever does ), then I'll start talking about this angle. And besides, Verizon's network is much faster and more reliable than AT&T, at the very least, so I don't blame Disney for choosing the better of the two (and I realize it was never said they were only choosing between these two carriers, I'm just sayin', is all). Until, then-

YAY!! Finally an awesome app for Verizon customers!! :yea:
I'll be downloading it as soon as I can, once it's available!

True and although they do have the red cards that they hand to guests passing through the line, it still isn't a current wait, just an estimate based on a past guest.

Back to the original topic, I think Verizon has a deal with Disney to have rights to things in relation to the parks. I've seen a couple Disney park advertisements specifically for Verizon when I've been in a Verizon store so that's what I'm basing this off of. Other things such as random Disney apps that are non-park related are fine to be developed for other carriers.

There's MouseWait for the iPhone. Apparently, they have "agents" (not just users) in the parks setting legit wait times. Plus they have a bunch of other good stuff. Check em out.

I have an iTouch so it doesn't do me any good while at the park, but it's still very cool. I have a Verizon phone, but it doesn't support apps so I guess I won't be getting Mobile Magic. I don't know if the iPhone will ever come out on Verizon since Verizon is going with Android based phones now.
