  • [Question] Holiday Overlay

When does the complete Holiday Overlay come out?

My parents want to go to Disneyland in the coming months and i told them that i would find the perfect time for them to go. And since the holiday overlay is absolutely amazing, i was wondering when it came out so i could plan accordingly.

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, when do you guys think would be the best time to go?
When does christmas break start in Cali?
When does it start getting really busy again?

Since you're "planning" your trip, plan it during the week AFTER Thanksgiving weekend.

It's the best week of the year!

          Enjoy!

Is it okay if I ask the opposite question here? When does the holiday overlay get taken down? I'm going to be there in January (starting on the 4th, I've heard that's a good time to go, is that true?) and I'm just wondering if the Haunted Mansion Holiday, holiday decorations, and holiday fireworks show are going to be there.

How do you know this? Disneyland.com doesn't have their calendar that far ahead. Is there another source that says this? I just want to see it so I know what to expect.

I am just baseing it off of the time that they close every year.
I am almost 100% sure because last year they closed on the 5 and the year before they closed on the 7. That tells me that they close the monday after new years.

Well, poo. I hope it's different this year. I'm not a big fan of HMH, but I'd rather go that than no HM at all.

Also, off topic, but in your sig, is that seriously what is says when Casey Jr. is closed? That's hilariously terrible.

Casey Jr. was my first ride at DL and it is one of my favorites. Also, one of the best times to go is mid may or feb.

                          Re: Holiday Overlay

I think it's sad that it says he "can't today" because the whole point of Casey Jr. was that he never gave up and willed himself to always "can." I used to love the Casey Jr. ride as a kid but now I avoid it because I can't comfortably fit in it.

I went in mid-Feb and it was freaking CROWDED. I think all the Kinder-high schools now (at least in my area) give a week off for president's day and I think they all went to DLR and I got caught up in that. I really hope hope to go for my birthday some time which is Feb 21, but I seriously expect it to be crowded on that day if I ever make it out. The good thing about it being crowded is that they don't close everything for refurb, but I like it when it's slower.

Feb 5-15 is the best because most things are open from overlays. On the east coast the get a feb vacation which lands between pres. day.

Monday (the day you arrive) the holidays will be over.
As mentioned, Small World and HM will be closed to remove over lay.
Sunday (Jan 3, 2010) will be the last day to see Christmas.
