I was just wondering what you would like the theming be for a third themepark. Of course they would need more land though.

They say that a 3rd gate is already on the drawing board. I personally think it'd be cool to take the idea of the world showcase at epcot and expand upon it. Make about 7 or so countries (or 'lands') based on different countries. This way you get somewhat of a new concept, but the concept would still be able to adapt to the already successful disney formula.

oooh I swear you people
how could you forget so soon
that's exactly how the land should be used
water park belongs behind Paridise Pier (I'll make a post about that soon I suppose)
I've often said that theme wise we need a third gate that has parts of Epcot, DisneySea and a bit of Animal Kingdom thrown in (I suppose I'll have to make a thread that clarifys that more soon also, I started to make one but I'm having a hard time mapping out my ideas effectivly)"We all have sparks, imagination! it's how our minds... create creations!"

maybe, but it's still wise to prepare for the opening of a third gate while you work on fixing the second
you do this by buying out strategic hotels and spots of land, maybe even buying out houses in this case, you build more parking garages expand your luxery hotels and maybe even provide something like Disneyquest as a testing point for the final phase
and then after all of that takes place (10-20 years) you can build the third gate, and when you do build it, it will be very well thought out and the area around it will have already been set in advance for it's arrival, you can save money and time because you'll already have good infulstructre in place and imagineering can focas on the park"We all have sparks, imagination! it's how our minds... create creations!"

Well, I've posted this elsewhere, but the basic concept is a re-Imagineering of Epcot. Rather than have two separate stories, Future World and World Showcase, our pak host, Figment, guides us through ImagiNations.
The layout is based on the four corners of the globe. In the NE corner you have Eurasia, SE is Africa, and SW is South America. Along the way, we are reminded of the contributions each land has made to Progress and Innovation.
From here, we replace the Future World concept with Disney's America and a few other unrealized ideas. Providing my plan to put this into Main St. doesn't work, a replica of Eliis Island would host the American Adventure-based restyling of Carousel of Progress. Then the area breaks off into the Edison Square and Liberty Street concepts. Finally, we end our park visit with a retooled Horizons.
I have to admit, I'm intrigued by the Utilidors concept going in a new direction. I started thinking about Buena Park Mall, and how the ground level is actually the second floor. It may seem more expensive, but using this kind of expanded below-ground complex, even for guest-accessible areas, should prove more cost-effective than Disney trying to buy out more and more adjacent land.
Finally, I've pondered using more PeopleMover technology rather than Monorail. For that matter, I recently saw a commercial where a ski lift gondola was essentially patterned after an enclosed Skyway bucket, and I had to wonder if somehow the PeopleMover cars could be similarly enclosed for safety, and perhaps even have a section in which a PeopleMover train could separate, and each car could take off on a Skyway path. What I would sort of like to see is a PeopleMover track from the Transportation Center out to Harbor, turning South to travel behind HPB, then turning East on Katella, reaching the north side entrance to the park. The PM station is themed as the North Pole to continue the park's theme even outside the gates. Then, you can exit, or that the PeopleMover as it becomes a Skyway, providing an overhead view of the Four Corners of the Globe. You can either get off at the South Pole, or exit back at the Transportation Center. Ticket holders ride free, and even if you're not visiting the park, you can purchase something like the ART pass and just take the ride.See, George Lucas? I'm not the only one! Actually now that I think about it, you could combine both of these with an EPCOT WorldShowcase type of park. NOW that is thinking big! It would be exotic locations from Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America. Themes for rides, shows, attractions and parades could be pulled from around the world (DLP and TDL). Would local SoCal people come back for that? I know out of state tourists would! Plus they would need to build moderate and value hotels with one deluxe hotel with this park. DL/DCA already have 3 deluxe hotels.
I will post more specific details later.Last edited by DisneyParkFan; 02-25-2005, 04:41 PM.

Originally posted by DisneyParkFanCould you combine both? Not being a local, is there room for a theme park along the lines of Animal Kingdom? Meaning they would need room for a Kilimanjaro Safari ride with animals and shelters for them at night/bad weather. But more rides and "lands" like those I have read about for DisneySeas in Tokyo would be fantastic! Okay, okay people complain about DL being the "ugly stepsister" now and getting all the hand-me-downs, but I have read about some fantastic rides and attractions done by Imagineering in TDL and have experienced some great shows and rides and parades at Animal Kingdom (as well as from Disneyland Paris).

3rd gate??? Wheres the 2nd gate...is it that park across Disneyland? Sorry for the sarcasim.. Heehaaheehaa
DCA needs the attention more than anything.. well after the 50th anniversary. They got the subs in DL in 07 so they need something for DCA in 07 as well.. ok yah sure Theyre working on Monster overlay at SSL.. come on now..hahaaha Build a ride where Hollywood and Dine is at and buld monster inc in the Millionaire building. DCA needs a bit more attention after the 50th. I think Disney leraned a big leason with DCA about opening a new park. Nowadays just because you slap a Disney logo on it doesnt mean its gonna be good. Sad to say...I thnk they need to work on rebuilding the Disney's "imagination".....But yah thats my opinion. regardless if it dosent make sense.. thats me.. =)We rock the party that rocks the party! We are truly a new generation of the Brady Bunch!

I do think there's room for a 3rd park and I think there's room for a water park behind Paradise Pier"We all have sparks, imagination! it's how our minds... create creations!"

I still don't understand where all this is going to be put? If they buy other lots and everything then not only will you have to deal with all the red tape but you will have even more complaints of a berm-less park. You can't surround a new park with tall old growth trees.I would love to see more happening at Disneyland Resort, but I just don't understand how they could do it and make it economical, or worth it.

Yea I think they need to put more attention to DCA for now instead of a new park. I really do love being there its just that they need to think of more ideas how to get people to go there. The last time I was there some parts of the park that I thought was close was open, there were no people in sight! Just a waste of space.
