I was wondering if anyone has any idea where Disney gets their random twinkling white lights that are in the trees at the hub year-round. I'm not talking about the nets that are put on for Christmas. I'm specifically asking about the light strands that are attached directly to the branches. They are obviously a little more heavy duty than the usual WalMart Christmas lights and I was interested in finding some to include in my ridiculous Christmas lights display.

[Question] Tree Lights Question (Not Christmas)
I'm literally a born Disney fan! I was born at Providence St. Joseph Med Center right across the street from Disney Studios in Burbank. The same hospital where Walt died.

Re: Tree Lights Question (Not Christmas)
They mainly use the types of bulbs seen here.
Lighting fixtures, gu10 halogen, light bulb, lamp, fluorescent, incandescent, metal halide from Light Bulb Depot.
They do require some work to set up though. You have to wire these all together and possibly step down the power supply.
There are similar C-7 style bulbs which do basically the same thing, and they're very easy to set up. Some may come already assembled, others all you have to do is screw the bulb in to the base socket.sigpic

I've noticed (and yes, I look too) that most of the trees (I haven't checked every tree) have a single wire running to each bulb.
If they can create an AA, I think they can make there own lighting for the trees.Quote by Al:
To that end I'd like the Internet community to join me in reminding the Disney company that "it all started with Walt." As you can see below we've created some T-shirts, plus a few simple graphics that you can copy and paste into your websites to let folks know how you feel.

I thought I had the answer, but then realized I was thinking about the 'firefly' effect in the Pirate ride. I saw those for sale. Kinda expensive...sigpic

Re: Tree Lights Question (Not Christmas)
They are custom made. Long ago, in a land far far away, we hired a guy to work on a special Christmas lighting project we were doing...he worked at Disney on lighting and told us that they have them made for each application. If you notice, the little bulbs are very close together, not like any of the typical strings you can buy off the shelf.Hidden Mickey - Tower of Terror

Re: Tree Lights Question (Not Christmas)
The bulbs are not made in house. They may be modified and connected with a specific length of wire, but certainly not made by Disney.
Obviously each strand is cut to a specific length to be put in a specific place.sigpic
