I think there are only 3 smoking ares in DL and I wouldn't feel comfortable smoking near the bathrooms since everyone has to go at some point during the day. That is too close to the main pathways and too many kids too.

There are three smoking areas and they are generally out of the way. The one behind Big Thunder Mountain isn't near any attractions.

I reeeeealy love that there are nice outdoor smoking areas in Disneyland. I smoke maybe 10 cigarettes a month (social smoker) and enjoying some tobacco while gazing up at the Matterhorn or watching the Mark Twain go by was something Walt would have loved too

I am not a smoker and do not endorse smoking in any way however I have met many smokers and smoking keeps them calm. There needs to be a place to smoke but I agree that it should be enclosed and away from any children (if possible).

Force 'em all up on the old PeopleMover track. At least it'd get some use. Heck, put 'em to work raking up the leaves and greasing the track. Cheap labor!

On my last trip, there was this lady being pushed around by her boyfriend in a stroller, while breast feeding her baby and smoking a cigarette. And they ran over my heel and knocked my vans off.

Typical day at the park these days, right?

See...being a smoker at Disneyland could have its advantages.

                Anyway...I kid, I kid.

Seriously, I think my idea has some merit. What about creating an elevated platform for the smokers? It would get them up and out of the way (that's not meant to sound harsh, it just does) of the rest of the Guests. Hmmm...

Throw in a segway and I'll do it.

Actually SegwayMover. That's an idea. Ride your own segway along the former track. (Can we get railings on the sides please?)

We can all ride in a house attached to helium Mickey balloons. We go up for 15 minutes, put out our butts and get our butts out for the next group to light UP.

If some people are so inconsiderate as to run over others with their strollers, I can't imagine the fun those people would have running over others with Segways.

I found it a bit alarming that with so many small children there, they could have at least temporarily closed down that smoking area and re-opened it after the villains left.

It's rare, but there are people that do not restrain themselves to these smoking areas, and it is daunting to me why, in a place filled with so many children, Disneyland has banned alcohol (for the most part), but allowed smoking. I do not mean to trod on anyone's decision for being a smoker or not, but Disneyland should at least consider making the smoking areas an enclosed place.

Some time back, I also watched Fantasmic from the left side (closes to the Haunted Mansion) and saw that the smoking area there was also packed. There were a lot of small children there as well watching the show and with the wind, the smoke seemed worse as it was blowing my direction.

Smoking is obviously a personal choice, and I am not making this thread to bad mouth smokers, but I just want to know people's thoughts on how Disney may improve the situation for non-smokers. As I stated, I think they should just make it an enclosed area (like most airports have now-a-days) as most people actually follow the rules and go to the permitted smoking areas to smoke.

Think about it this way, matterhorn.....

Disney has already pushed this issue as much as they can by restricting the areas where smokers can get those few minutes of pleasure. It used to be you could smoke anywhere. I am not a smoker, I do not know anything about that sensation. But I do know that there are those that know what it is like to appreciate it, healthy or not, and need to have that few minutes. I am sure that there were many that were upset when they found out that they would be forced to walk to a few corners of the park just to smoke a cigarette. That their needs would be sacrificed for the greater good. For it to be completely eliminated or just restricted even more than it already is, is asking too much.

I do agree that they probably could have chosen a better place, either for the villians photo op or the smoker's section. But that's what this board is good for. Voicing opinions and getting your concerns out. Disney does read these boards as it is kind of an unofficial feedback forum.

Quick note: Nicotine is highly addictive, legal or not. So are video games, though.
And, as we should realize by the existence of MiceChat and other boards, so is Disneyland.

What I'm trying to say is that I need a hit. It's a cry for help.
