  • Trip Report November 1st/20th Birthday trip report

So, I went to Disneyland yesterday to celebrate my birthday and the last day of halloween. It was a pretty good day with crowds lighter than expected, not to be confused with the park having light crowds because it was definitely busy.

Anyways, for my convenience of making these reports, I posted my report and photos online here: Birthday Celebration Trip Report

    Enjoy!

    A couple of things:
    1. Your pictures are Awesome, but the wide angle shots get a little repetitive/tiring after a while. It would've been nice to maybe switch up the lens or something. Cool shots though.
    2. Is the shot of the Autopia track an HDR shot?
    3. What kind of camera are you using?
    4. The Lilly Belle?! Where? What? How? Maybe that's an amateur Disney question, but I've never even heard of it before. Where is it?

      1. I knew it was going to get repetitive, but I love the lens so much and with the expected high crowds, I didn't want to shuffle through lenses. But trust me, i was really close to bringing a more useful (less fun lens). now im slapping myself over it haha.
      2. the autopia shot is an HDR using a single RAW image.
      3. I use a Canon 40D, and for this report, a 10mm Sigma Fisheye Lens.
      4. Lilly Belle. The Where: Board on Main Street station by asking one of the CMs if its available for riding. The What: Walt's VIP car train which has been out of service for a while now. The How: Ask a CM at the right time if you can ride. The Where: Board on Main Street station by asking one of the CMs if its available for riding. (you asked the where twice so I answered twice hehe)

Anyways, once I saw the lilly belle was there, i was sad I didnt have my other lens.

Great trip report! I agree with Awesome; after a while, the fisheye is kind of overwhelming. But some of those shots - like the one you suggested to view full, with the Mark Twain - are lovely.
And speaking of the Lilly Belle, in City Hall, they have that fake bookcase and one of the books said "Lilly Belle" and it reminded me of the train.
I think that next time I need to ask about the Lilly Belle!

                1. Haha it's alright, the shots are cool regardless . I'm jealous, I'd love a fish eye lens, or just a regular wide angle lens. I just recently bought a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens though .
                2. Wow! That turned out remarkably well for being done with only one RAW image. Most the shots I do with just 1 RAW don't turn out great. Do you use Photomatix, Photoshop, or some other program?
                3. Awesome, my buddy's got a 40D as well. I've got a Rebel XSi. Not quite as good as a 40D, but still awesome.
                4. Wow, I can't believe I've never seen or heard of that before. That looks so unbelievably Awesome. Haha yeah... looks like I did ask Where? twice, I was just overwhelmed and excited and I wanted to know haha.

I still would LOVE to take my nice camera (not just my ultra compact) to Disneyland sometime and just snap away, but I've never had the chance :-\.

Happy birthday! I enjoyed your photography of the subtle, quiet, and overlooked areas of the park. I have to get me a "family reunion" button to go with my collection: "Happy birthday"; "Citizen of Disneyland"; "Happy Anniversary" and I wish I had a "First Visit" button, but they didn't give those out in 1955.

                          2. I use Photomatrix Pro for my HDR stuff. Im having trouble getting Photoshop CS3 to accept my canon raw files. The single raws work best when you shoot at a very low ISO because photomatrix tends to see the noise details and accentuates them a lot.
                          3. Its not about the camera, but about how one uses them. I would've gone with the XSi, but for comfort reasons, I went with the 40D. It just fit better in my hand.

                            2. Ahhh never tried that. I use Photomatix Pro as well though . Good program. I'm still not great at getting HDR shots though, it's typically hard for me to look at a shot and say "yeah that'll look good in HDR" so most my HDR shots don't end up looking very good. (but I do have some really cool ones as well).
                            3. I agree completely . For instance, another friend of mine has an XTi which is a bit older and not quite as good... but I still feel he is a superior photographer than I am... my problem is is that I don't go out and take photos enough. I went out like a week ago for the first time in several months.
