Re: Your Childhood Disneyland Photos/Memories
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I no longer have any pictures from my family's early visits. Maybe that's why I have so many from my more recent visits. In the meanwhile I love seeing all of yours, and I truly do get mighty mushy thinking of those wonderful days when my Mom and Dad were still alive, and my kid sister (when she really was a kid) would get all dressed up an make the drive down the I5. We would all wear matching red sweaters in case one of us got lost! even in July...
Those pictures from the 60's (likewise the ones I've found at Daveland's) remind me of not only how much more relaxed the park used to be, but also how much cleaner the park used to be. The sweeper in the last bunch of years seems to be bound for extinction by comparison. Just look at how clean those footpaths were. My Mom used to say you could eat off them.
Thanks for sharing these treasures, folks...First Visit at the age of 12, July 17, 1968.First Ride, The Disneyland and Santa Fe Railroad.BRING BACK THE PEOPLE MOVER!

Re: Your Childhood Disneyland Photos/Memories
I have a couple from the mid 90s:
Whether or not I was terrified of Small World is up to you.
I remember this vividly, and have since looked forward to any breakdown that requires evacuation.
When was the last time we had a normal floral?
I'm guessing that these photos were taken around 1998. And yes, that's a Coke bottle I'm holding. I remember going on HISTA sometime around that day, and exited with a bite mark on my right foot. It took me years before I sat in any 3D theater with my feet on the floor any not on the seat.
Yeah, I failed at smiling back then. And am I the only one who misses the Mark Vs?

Re: Your Childhood Disneyland Photos/Memories
My first childhood visit was in 1960 (four years old)...I visited several times in the 60's and worked there from the mid-70's to early 80's....but sadly, while the memories live on, nary a picture was saved (and not many taken back then).
If I knew then what I know now...
I do love the other pics and stories here though!God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Re: Your Childhood Disneyland Photos/Memories
I just posted this on a different thread, but saw it fits here too. I saw the 'newer' Skyway buckets in someone's photos. Thought you might like to see this version. That is me at age 6. Everyone say, "Awwwwww". I loved those feather hats. My dad didn't. I usually stood in front of him in lines and the feather would be hitting his face all day. By the end of the day, he had bent it over in half!sigpic

Re: Your Childhood Disneyland Photos/Memories
I have gone to disneyland every year since i was born in 1956. My absolutely hysterical memory (well, NOW its hysterical, but back then, probably not). my mom used to tell the story that my brother and i (we were 7 and 5) went to MIssion to Mars. We were seated in the theatre. Of course, at 7, i had no clue it was a theatre. I got inside, and my mom says 5 min later, the Disney CM's had my brother and I in hand, escorting us out. Apparently i was screaming 'I DONT WANT TO GO TO MARS' and would not let up, and they had to stop.
I dont remember it, but my brother did, and of course, my mom loved to tell that story.if i cant be a good example, let me be a horrible warning

Re: Your Childhood Disneyland Photos/Memories
On my first trip in 1965, I got separated from my family for a few minutes and I was panicked and crying. We were in the area of Frontierland that is now New Orleans Square. Even though there were plenty of people around I still felt scared. My family found me after a few minutes and there is a Kodachrome slide of me not looking happy. But soon afterwards we went on the Mine Train, which sold me on Disneyland, and Tom Sawyer Island, and I forgot about being lost. That's my earliest memory of Disneyland, being alone and scared for a few minutes.

Re: Your Childhood Disneyland Photos/Memories
This picture was probably taken in 1989/1990. I don't really remember this moment, but I remember having that shirt! I think I may have been scared meeting Pinocchio. This was before I ran into a pole on the PeopleMover that knocked my tooth out!
Captain EO!!!! 1987/1988 This may have been the first time watching it! Been a HUGE fan ever since!!
Disneyland Parade, date unknown, but could have been early 90's.

Re: Your Childhood Disneyland Photos/Memories
Let's see when my twin sister and I were really little like about 3 or 4, we were kidnapped by Chip and Dale.
Actually technically not kidnapped but we were taking a picture with Chip and he though that we were so cute that he wanted to show us to Dale, and as my parents watch on he just grabs our hands and walk us across Toon Town to find Dale. My Mom has a pic some where but I doubt she knows where its of us just being led away by him its really cute. I love those little moments like that and of course still love Chip and DaleNo ShirtNo ShoesNo DiceLearn it, Know it, Live it!sigpic
