  • [Review] Letters To Disneyland About Sept Trip With Response Letter

    To all:

In September (24-29) I went to The Disneyland Resort to celebrate my belated birthday and Halloween Time. During my time I observed and encountered many friendly and helpful Cast Members, as well as noticed some great merchandise, and merchandise that was lacking.

Below you will find the letters I sent to The Disneyland Resort (in simple text form copied from Microsoft Word), along with a copy of The Disneyland Resort's response letter to me. (My address has been blackened out for privacy reasons.)

    Enjoy!

    Dear Disneyland Guest Communications,

My name is Joseph Nielsen. I recently visited your resort during the fun and exciting Halloween Time celebration from September 24-29, 2009. During my visit I encountered a friendly and attentive Cast Member at Pooh’s Corner in Critter Country. Her name is ***. She was fun to talk with while I bought a piece of your delicious pumpkin fudge. She (along with the tasty pumpkin treat) are the reasons I will decide to return to Pooh’s Corner during a future visit to The Disneyland Resort.

Thank you, Disney, for hiring such a pleasant and wonderful individual. *** exuded the “Disney spirit” in more ways than one!

    Sincerely,
    Joseph T. Nielsen

    Dear Disneyland Guest Communications,

My name is Joseph Nielsen. I recently visited your resort during the fun and exciting Halloween Time celebration from September 24-29, 2009. During my visit I explored the store Gag Factory in Mickey’s ToonTown. During my visit to Gag Factory I encountered a very bubbly and personable Cast Member. Her name is ***. She inquired as to why I had decided to visit Disneyland. I mentioned to her I was visiting as a belated birthday celebration. (I had decided to come after my birthday to enjoy the Halloween Time festivities. (My birthday is September 20th.)) The moment she heard me mention my belated birthday she rushed to acquire a birthday button. The next thing I saw was her writing my name on it, along with drawing cute Mickey balloons!

*** made me feel special while at Disneyland and demonstrated a loving and caring personality. **** will remain as a positively memorable experience while at The Disneyland Resort.

Thank you, Disney, for hiring such a wonderful individual.

    Sincerely,
    Joseph T. Nielsen

    Dear Disneyland Guest Communications,

My name is Joseph Nielsen. I recently visited your resort during the fun and exciting Halloween Time celebration from September 24-29, 2009. During my visit I encountered an extremely caring and warm-hearted Custodial Cast Member before Disneyland’s first ever Halloween fireworks spectacular, Halloween Screams, began. His name is ****. **** answered all my questions in ensuring I had a fantastic spot to witness Halloween Screams. (He even came back later to check on me to see how I was doing!)

**** had an upbeat and jovial personality that made me smile and laugh. It is Cast Members such as **** who demonstrate a true appreciation for the human spirit and life. I hope to encounter **** during a future trip to The Disneyland Resort.

Thank you, Disney, for hiring such a kind and magical man.

    Sincerely,
    Joseph T. Nielsen

    Dear Disneyland Guest Communications,

My name is Joseph Nielsen. I recently visited your resort during the fun and exciting Halloween Time celebration from September 24-29, 2009. During my visit I encountered an extremely efficient Cast Member working Crowd Control near Plaza Pavilion during the very first showing of Halloween Screams, Disneyland’s very first Halloween fireworks spectacular. Her name is ****. At all times **** had a positive and fun loving demeanor and attitude. She was helpful in answering Guests questions and directing Guests to where they wanted to go during Halloween Screams.

**** made my (and I’m sure many other Guests) stay at The Disneyland Resort a smooth and wonderful occasion. It is because of Cast Members like **** that Disney is where it is today. With them The Disneyland Resort shines magic every single day of the year.

    Sincerely,
    Joseph T. Nielsen

    Dear Disneyland Guest Communications,

My name is Joseph Nielsen. I recently visited your resort during the fun and exciting Halloween Time celebration from September 24-29, 2009. While at Disneyland in Critter Country my partner, Robert, asked me who my favorite Winnie the Pooh character is. Without hesitation I told him my favorite character is Gopher. Robert had no idea who Gopher was so I decided to show him during a ride on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Upon arriving at “Pooh Bear’s” attraction we encountered a friendly and bouncy Cast Member. Her name is ****. ****, Robert, and I briefly discussed Gopher and other Disney characters, including Bernard & Bianca and Madame Medusa from The Rescuers.

**** was fun to talk with while waiting to ride The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. She enhanced my stay at The Disneyland Resort by miles by creating a magical and wonderful memory in Critter Country. I hope to see **** again during a future visit to Disneyland.

    Sincerely,
    Joseph T. Nielsen

PS. I was able to successfully point out Gopher to Robert during our experience on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! :-)

    Dear Disneyland Guest Communications,

My name is Joseph Nielsen. I recently visited your resort during the fun and exciting Halloween Time celebration from September 24-29, 2009. During my visit I came across a very unique and beautiful pin set being sold at a store in Disney’s California Adventure called P.T. Flea’s. This pin set portrayed the “Coming Soon – World of Color” construction walls for the World of Color show debuting at Disney’s California Adventure next year (2010). I fell in love with this item and bought it! I hope to see future “Coming Soon” pin sets for upcoming attractions such as The Little Mermaid Voyage, Silly Symphony Swings, and Cars Land.

    Sincerely,
    Joseph T. Nielsen

My name is Joseph Nielsen. I recently visited your resort during the fun and exciting Halloween Time celebration from September 24-29, 2009. During my visit I was hoping to purchase memorabilia regarding Gopher from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Sadly, there was none to be found! I truly hope The Disneyland Resort will create some classic memorabilia after my beloved Winnie the Pooh character, Gopher, in the near future.

    Sincerely,
    Joseph T. Nielsen

That's cool, thanks for sharing. I still have to write my letter to them about our Sept. 24th visit. I'm curious, though, why you separated it into so many letters. I'm planning to just combine my remarks into one letter.

It's great that you took the time to write and compliment those CMs (although I too wonder why you sent so many separate letters).

And I must say that I was impressed and somewhat surprised by Disney's response.

      Well done in both regards.

I decided to write separate letters for each Cast Member so that if the letters made their way to them the letter would be all about them. The letter would be simply about the service they themselves provided. To me it seemed more personable and direct. This way I was able to provide more details about each individual encounter as opposed to lumping it all together as one general "CM, CM, CM, and CM" were great. Odd to some, but logical to me. (I have been told I'm special at times. I'll let everybody determine how that should be interpreted.)

Clearly, he bought a roll of those "Forever" stamps a couple years ago at the lower rate, so now he saves a ton of money each time he uses one.

Mail them separately? He can't afford not to!

Actually, Joe, that's a very thoughtful way of going about it. You put some real time and effort into it, and that's to be commended.

Hmmm... interesting. I find it surprising following them refusing to take written complaints or suggestions that they would give you a written response. Curious

Sending several letters rather than one was very thoughtful of you. I would imagine that Disney HR gets a copy of that type of letter and would hopefully include them into each CMs personnel file. Thanks for your thoughtfulness and for sharing this with us. It's always refreshing to hear good things!
I want you to know, nobody cares more about your stupid problems than I do!

I thought the same thing, but it was still a nice response. I guess we take what we can get from the great gods of Disney.

I think that it is great that you showed appreciation to the cast members who helped you and made the magic possible during your visit. not only that but guest communications replied by saying "hey thanks "

What a great thing to do! I'm glad Disney actually responded, and that it wasn't just another "canned response" letter, too!

However, I'm concerned that you didn't remove the names of some of the Cast Members in a few of those letters...

It wasn't too bad. It only took me about 30-45 minutes to get them all typed up, signed, and put in the envelopes.
