[Question] Castle Christmas lights different?

In looking at various pictures of the Castle Christmas overlay this year, I had noticed that it seemed that the lights weren't put up yet, but since they were all day time pictures, I couldn't tell for sure. Now, looking at the latest pictures by the OC Register, it looks like they are up but, is it me or do there seem to be a lot less of them this year, especially the icicles.

Seeing as how Holiday Time officially kicks off on Friday, does anyone know if this is the final version or are they still putting up more lights?

The LED lighting system they use for the fireworks looks a little brighter this year. Other than that it looks the same.

I much prefer the arrangement this year. There are no icicles cluttering the main tower, so it looks much cleaner and more emphasis is on the beautiful garlands. Put me on the "I like it this year better" list.

I have to say, I prefer fewer icicles. The snowy towers look beautiful, but the icicles look like something you could buy at Target.

I loved the wow factor of all the lights in the previous years.. but I do also like this cleaner look!

I agree with you all, I think it looks much cleaner and I like it, I just wonder if it's the final version. At this point in time, I'm thinking it will be.

For me personally, I've ALWAYS hated the icicles the day they put them on a few years ago. They look really cheap and tacky and ruin the scale of the castle. I think they should have gone with clear icicles with LEDs on the top so it looks like glowing icicles, not these tacky looking monstrocities. And looking at this year's less is more. Hopefully they're realizing how horrible they actually look and are slowly getting rid of them.

Looking at it again, it's definitely not done. A lot of the turrets are missing the lights(Look closely and you'll see the right wall has the lights while the left side doesn't have any) and in the picture, the garlands aren't even lit up yet.

Good observation! I noticed the turrets weren't looking quite done and of course the lack of icicles, but hadn't noticed the wall. That definitely looks incomplete. We'll see what happens. We all know Disney can do amazing thing overnight, let alone two nights.

It's hard for me to tell send the statue is in the way but to me it dosen't look like there done with the castle yet.

I love the snow, but I think the icicles do look pretty tacky. However, I don't think there's any way to get around this and still have them light up so bright. I think the lights themselves clash, no matter what form they're in, icicles or not. Also, are we sure the icicles won't still be on the main tower? There's still two nights until Holidays at Disneyland officially start.

also looks (what I think appear to be chess pieces) like some of the sides towers aren't covered.
I kinda like it better.
It doesn't look like lights were just thrown all over the place. More like they were planned out.

didn't like last years icicles either.

I hope they don't add all the additional icicles. Although it still looked nice in years past, I think less is more in this case.
