[Question] Any one but me want to see more Characters?

I went to Universal last week and I saw like 12 Different Characters walking around the park and thought, why does Disney not do this. I mean yes we see Mickey in the front of the park every time but I don't just see Peter Pan in Fantasyland walking around in the middle of the day. Plus its cool when they just send characters out because no one knows and that means less lines and you can get a Picture in without too much of a line.

Anyone else think DL needs more characters around the park?

If you mean more as in... more variety, I'm all for that. Disneyland has become very predictable. You'll always know who you're going to see.

yea i would love it to have more variety of characters. Here at Disneyland it is too predicitable of what characters you will see. At least WDW has a little more random characters out every so often

Oh I have a list of characters I want to be in the park like:

Merlin
Ron Stoppable
Kim Possible
Maleficent
Esmerelda
Clopin

and many many others...

I miss the old days when the Characters were free to roam and interact as they pleased. Now they're like the President and can't go anywhere without 2 handlers, security, and a traveling queue.

YES!!!! I've always thought more characters would be a good thing. Of course, I'd love to see lesser known characters walking about the park.... I mean, what if a little kid comes to the park and his/her favorite character is from a less popular movie (I'll say Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet, just because he's the first that came to mind... and the one I'd want to see again. ) and then only to be dismayed when they figure out there's no possible way to meet them? Besides, it could pose as publicity for Disney. Kids go up to meet and greets anyways right (?) and some kids could wonder what the character's from.... and then want to see it. (of course the handler can be of assistance with answering that question. )

haha I guess I've always thought of this because the less popular movies tend to be my favorites... XD

I agree like I told Dan on Halloween day. I love the characters that are out but I'm starting to get board of seening the same old characters every time I'm there. Don't get me wrong I love seening Aurora,Fairy Godmother,Cruella,Silvermist,Peter and Goofy but I would love to see some others like Robin Hood,Genie, Daisy Duck (And no the Hotels don't count cause when I get to the park the character meals for Breakfest is over and I would not have a change to see her.)Prince Charming,Prince Eric,3 Little Pigs and others.

When I went to DCA for the first time a few weeks ago, I was surprised I had seen so many characters. I would love to see more of that at Disneyland.

I actually think it is more fun to have less characters, because it is fun to go looking for them, or fun to see somebody you have not seen in a while!

Well I remember a time when POD was still around that I saw two Peter Pan's out at the same time well close to the same time. I was on Main Street around 3:45 and I was with Peter Pan and the parade had already started on Small World side and I had saw the train that Peter gose in and well you can't say it was the same Peter when he on Main Street side was running to the back as fast as he can. It also happen one time with the White Rabbit. I had just saw him by Ariel's meet and greet when it was still there before Pixie Hollow took over and then I had seen the White Rabbit coming from Avd.land about 3 seconds later so they do miss up at times.

Same here. It's really a shame to see to see the traveling queue and the people RUNNING to get their picture taken with some of these characters. I've seen Cruella especially get bombarded with people when she's trying to leave her set (during Halloween and after the firehouse show) and to go on break.

I can understand why Disney decides to put princesses in a box, and create meet and greet areas to visit favorite characters. It's a lot more organized and fair. It's sad and ruins the atmosphere of the parks, somewhat, but it's also a lot more safe for all.

I'm going to go against the grain on this one...I do not like characters at all, so having none would be fine with me. Now, I understand kids love them, and I'm not really advocating that DL get rid of them, but I just never saw the appeal. Even as a small child, I knew that wasn't Mickey Mouse, it was some guy (probably girl!) in a Mickey suit.

Logistically, the problem with more characters is that means more traffic congestion wherever they happen to be. The characters and their handlers (how sad is it that it's necessary to have security for a CM in a costume?) plus the hordes of kids and parents, all jostling to get to the front and get a good angle for that photo. The park is too crowded most of the time now to just have roaming characters, they have to be segregated into specific zones.

I agree with you Monster on there safey. I remember one time I was in front of the Entenst to the gates just sitting by the tree and Mickey was out taking pictures with guest and this kid I would say 15 or 16 came right behind Mickey and jump on his back I couldn't belive what I saw. Mickey got so scare he was checking his heart to see if he was alright. And there was no handler out to help Mickey so I understand there safty.

I love to see the characters out and about, but being able to see them in specific areas (meet and greets such as PFF and Pixie Hollow) is nice as well. I'd love to see more characters, though. Especially the Tremaines; we met them at MTOTP and they were wonderful.

I had sort of the same experience with Goofy. Goofy had just gone out for a M&G in DL when we hopped on the monorail. When we passed through DCA, Goofy was also there doing a M&G in a different outfit. I always assumed there was only one of each character out at a time for both DL and DCA but I guess it's ok to have one character out in each park.

I would think more characters out would cause less problems conjestion wise. Instead of a big group following one character, you have smaller groups following several characters.
