What is with this place and everything being abbreviated? It's okay to type out a ride's name or even a person's name every once in a while. Not everyone always knows what you are talking about.
Yeah, I know what you mean. As a fellow new MC'er sometimes I dont know what the abbreviations mean either so I have to google it. But think thats what the glossary is for. I mean, is it really that hard to look it up? Anyways welcome to Mice Chat and when in Rome, do as the Romans do I guess.
WeaponX (and then yoyo) beat me to it, but check the glossary for any abbreviations that leave you scratching your head. And welcome to Mice Chat, both of you! :ap:

Secondly, I want to give you a piece of advice - if I wanted to change the habits of an entire community of thousands of posters, my approach would probably be to make a name for myself and get people to like me first, since people are generally more receptive to advice/demands from friends than from random strangers. That's just how humans work. Going in with guns blazing in your fourth post (and first thread) probably won't yield the results you're looking for, practically speaking.
Thirdly...you're in luck, because you're certainly not the first person to be initially confused by all the acronyms being used here. (Actually, when you think about it, we were all confused by those acronyms at one point, unless an elite few were born with terms like HISTA and BLAB and TSMM and ITTBAB rolling around in their heads...) That's why the thread others have already linked to exists.
Fourthly, using acronyms for commonly-used lingo is not unique to MiceChat. Just about every forum I've ever seen does it, and it's different for every forum and every subject. If you don't want to deal with acronyms, perhaps you should find other ways to spend your time. Forums may just be too much of a headache for you. No shame in that. If you want to instead go with the hard way and try to change the entire internet...well, be my guest, but I won't hold my breath for results.

I have to agree with this.
At the same time, if you just ask, everyone is really nice on here and they will be more than willing to tell you what the acronym means.
Some use them, some will do short versions of the name like Soarin, Thunder, Splash etc.

I get most of the abbreviations but I'm not really a fan. I use them because it's easier than typing it all out. I kind of like the shortened versions; still clear what is referenced, still easier than typing it all out, that kind of thing.

Thank you for the glossary. I will bookmark it. I am going to get my AP (hey, look, already catching up! LOL) on Nov. 17th so I plan on frequenting this and a few other boards . Now I won't be so lost LOL.
You get used to it after awhile, and the more you visit the more you get the hang of the "lingo", per say... Just like anywhere else you visit or live!
Don't feel bad, the acronyms confused the crap out of me when I started here too. Every now and then someone busts out one that I still don't get. TWFJC really got me one time (The World Famous Jungle Cruise) or WHTBAMPI (Who Wants to be a Millionaire: Play It). And that brings us to the point that's been made... who really wants to type all of that out EVERY single time. Especially in an intense thread where the name is being used a lot. Hence the acronyms.

NASA is quite possibly the worst. Everything is an acronym at NASA. And it's not just forums... but any group of people discussing a common interest will have a specific language. Physicists, programmers, engineers, etc. They all use acronyms and shortened phrases to talk to each other in a more efficient manner.
It's also a bit of elitism I think. It's a club and to be a part of it you have to learn the language the club uses. The glossary will really help... and never ever feel embarrassed to ask. You'll see people asking what "ITTBAB" or "iasw" mean all the time. We're a friendly lot, when we aren't beating the crap out of each other
Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter
yeah, i get most of the acronyms on here, but every once in a while i will try to figure one out and think "eh forget it, it's not worth looking up" and i skip ahead to the next thing ; )
I don't think it belongs anywhere
Maybe Chuck E. Cheese?
