[Question] If WOC video is LEAKED? Will you watch it?

Hey all!

If WOC video is leaked out, let say "mid-March," will you guys watch it or wait?

For example, someone who works at DCA manage to capture the rehearsal in progress and post them on Youtube or micechat one month before the premiere.

For me, I would watch it only if the quality is crystal clear not from a cellphone camera.

I would probably watch the video. Even if the video was crystal clear HD quality, it still wouldn't match up to seeing the show in person. It's the same as when I see footage from a concert on YouTube before going to the concert. Being there in person is a totally different experience.

So, I don't think seeing a video would ruin it too much for me, as I know seeing the show live will be a completely different experience. That being said, if I can avoid seeing a video beforehand, that would be nice.

For this kind of attraction, no. The anticipation is still building, and spoiling it just makes me feel guilty. Usually for rollercoasters at other amusment parks like Six Flags or Cedar Fair I don't really care for them and just go on ahead and spoil it.

I think WOC is going to be one of the worst-kept secrets at any Disney park. The PP hotel directly overlooks that area, so there will be video of just about every test they do.

I will watch some of it, when I have time. Video, even HD quality, does not adequately convey the experience of being there in person, so I don't think it's going to ruin anything for me.

For example, I saw video of RDCT several times before I was able to see it in person. Watching the video earlier took absolutely nothing away from the actual viewing experience.

Considering it may be a while after its debut before I will be able to see it in person... yeah, I'll watch the video first.

Exactly. I just posted a photo I found from earlier tonight, showing WOC testing, and the photo was taken from the PP Hotel. I can see a lot more footage coming from that location over the next few months...

^ That shortcoming will increase the temptation of spoiling the show to many people, but we'll have to live with it. On a side note, videos almost NEVER do justice for the attraction in real life.

I'm sure people will watch the video AND critique the show off of it; ala the Magical show through that low-quality "live" video and the crummy YouTube video of TSMM from WDW before the CA version opened.

^ That's the thing about videos. They don't do the real thing justice. I totally misjudged X2 at Magic Mountain just from photos and videos, but that's just an example. You need to see it for yourself before criticizing the "magic" aspects of the ride you can't feel or experience by watching recorded footage.

I wouldn't watch it. I have nothing against anyone who chooses to do so, but I personally tend to enjoy entertainment - films, rides, shows, etc. - the most when I go in with as little real knowledge as possible. I figure I'll have numerous chances to experience it, but only one chance to experience it for the first time, and I'd like to get the full emotional effect of it. Just what works for me.

Pre-zackly! The video is a compressed little snapshot - it is no substitute for seeing the show live and in person, but it will give you a general idea of what to expect. I would consider it a "Coming Soon!" sneak peek than a spoiler.

And they usually don't run full-load pyro for the technical rehearsals that might get videotaped by an unauthorized party - they put in simple flares or other inexpensive shells to show the cue timing and save some money. (They know the show shells work...) So the real thing is likely to be far more impressive.

And far more important, the video preview gives you a general idea of what goes off where and when. So you can avoid being stuck behind a tree or at the worst possible angle for your first viewing, because you know where all the major effects are going to happen.

Just like seeing a video of the Halloween "Boo to You" fireworks showed the inflatable globe screen to the left on the Castle, so I knew roughly where you had to be to see it. And I nailed a decent viewing spot on the first try.

so true. it was especially bad with Magical - when the previews didn't feature the "complete" show and most people were automatically declaring it a failure. hopefully that won't happen again with WoC..

anyone else think that WoC will be very difficult to capture on video? it just seems like because it'll be such a big show with so many different elements happening at once.. I don't think it will translate well onto a small youtube video.

and regarding leaked WoC videos.. it would be interesting if the CGI version of the show would leak online :unsure: Steven said they had the entire show on CGI..

yes....i just REALLY want to see what it will look like and besides Videos dont do the show justice so when I see it live it will be like a whole new show.

I'm going to try SO hard to not watch the video. I'm going to try and experience it live in person. It's just one of those experiences that needs to happen live.

Yes.. resist the temptation haha. Trust me this is the kind of thing you just HAVE to experience first-hand. You will most likely regret it if you watch it on video first.

If I still lived 3,000 miles away from Anaheim, then yes. But fortunately, I can now wait until it's ready and be practical.

Usually I watch the video previews, but early on I decided not to watch any footage of WoC. I even purposely skip past posts that talk about the show plot and I skipped the WoC presentation at the D23 Expo.

believe me, you're in for a treat. as someone who was there to see the D23 presentation in person, and has repeatedly watched the videos.. I can tell you there's a lot to get excited about

Considering the fact that at the moment I'm nowhere the United States (much less Anaheim) and probably won't be seeing anyplace even remotely resembling California for a good deal of time, then yes.

No. I won't watch it, just as much as I won't watch Steve Davison's presentation on the show. I don't mind seeing the art in the Blue Sky Cellar, because it's not the final product. That just gives me a hint at what will be in the show, but I want to see the actual effects for myself, in the park, and not before.
