  • [Chat] Wondering About Other AAs Getting Lincoln Treatment

Wow, my thread titles are long.

So, I was watching this lovely little video about the new Mr. Lincoln going into the show about great moments with himself...
Blog Exclusive: First Video of the Most Sophisticated Audio-Animatronics Technology Yet Disney Parks Blog
...and I couldn't help wondering about the future of Au-Au-Audio Animatronics. One of the worst elements of an AA that would give them away were the facial expressions. The closest thing an AA looked like was a person with a bit too much plastic surgery. But since Lincoln, the jaw and jowls move much more. Seeing this in person is going to be amazing.

But what about other Audio Animatronics? The first thing that popped into my mind was the POTC auctioneer, who supposedly is upgraded whenever new AA technology comes out. I don't exactly know any truth about this, so I would appreciate some education on this. The treatment would also look very nice on the plastic-y face of Jack Sparrow.

The other AAs I thought about were, first of all, Indiana Jones. Does the new Gates of Doom Indy use this? I supposed not, since the figure wasn't built at WDI and you can't read the face too clearly in that environment. But this rumored new AA at the end of the ride, would it use this technology?

Second, does Obama over at WDW use this?

The last thing that entered my mind was Ariel. Will she and her friends get the care Lincoln did? I sure hope so.

Well Lincoln is different from every other AA in that he is being watched for the entire show. Other AAs don't have that problem. Most of them you only see for a few seconds.

Until this time I thought the most advanced AA was the elusive Mr Ed Grier!

he wasn't an AA, per se, he was a little wooden puppet who danced in the show, moving only when his Stromboli masters in Burbank pulled his strings. But his dreams of becoming a real boy were dashed when he was chopped up for firewood and replaced.

So what about the auctioneer? Can anyone confirm that he's updated whenever new AA technology comes out? This is one thing I've never been quite sure about.

I'd rather have them update the other POTC AA's up a notch (to A100) before they even upgrade the Auctioneer again.

I was glad they used the old AA Lincoln as the Shaman on the Rivers of America. He has a lot of realistic movement compared to the others figures in the area.

I do remember when Lincoln first opened. The 'is he real?' debate went on for a long time!

I wish they would have used him as Trader Sam on Jungle considering that you are closer to that AA when you travel.

From a "human AA" perspective Jungle could really use some upgrades in general. How about drummers that have actual hand movements that drum? Or attacking natives feigning a throw? What about Trader Sam doing more then just flinging a head up...

As run as ROA is, you are a lot farther away from the AA's then you are on Jungle.

Yeah, that would be great too. I'm just a little partial to the Shaman as he is a main figure in my next book! lol

Hopefully the Jungle Cruise will get its needed attention. The additions they have made have good movement - like the gorillas taking over the camp. Probably all in due time.
