News Showboat Jubilee Canceled During Show

Suposedly, from what my friend said Tiana's Showboat Jubilee was canceled midway of the show. The anouncement mistakenly said inclement in weather which apparently surprised the cast. They had to akwardly walk back the route they had gone from.

It's all a little weird to me... anywho that's what happened today or yesterday, he didn't tell me I was a little surprised.

It wasn't the weather. One of the speakers on the boat blew out before the first show even started (I was on the boat ready to be a part of the show). They couldn't get the speaker fixed so the rest of the shows were also canceled. When the 12:45 show came along, they didn't do the weather announcement, just the "Unforeseen circumstances" announcement.

Yeah, Alex and my bro were pretty bummed since they've never seen the show, let alone be a part of it. I've already done both so I was REALLY excited that I had a couple 1st timers with me.

Oh well.

well good thing my sister and her family did not go. They were going to go because her duaghter wanted to meet Tiana but we had some pretty strange weather in the Inland empire. Lightning, thunder and lots of rain. They just decided to stay home and watch movies.

The boat speakers are show-essential at WDW because that's the only sound source, but does Disneyland even need them? The sound is played through all the riverfront speakers from Fantasmic isn't it? I mean.. I'm sure the singers need some sort of monitor speaker but if only 1 speaker blew that wouldn't seem to be a problem. Oh well I'm sure they wouldn't have cancelled it if it was that simple.

Heres from what I remember. I was talking to my friends at BTMRR when I heard a statc noise from the river. I'm not sure if it was from the Mark Twain or the Fantasmic! speakers but it sounded strong to be either of them. Eventually the cancellation announcement came in as I was heading to Indy.

That does sound odd if it was just a speaker on the boat itself. You'd think they could still do the show just fine with the speakers along the river. Unless the ones on the boat are there for the performers to make sure they hear the ques and such..

I agree. This show sounds REALLY fragile if the whole thing can go down for a day due to one speaker. You'd think they'd have 7 other speakers pointed in different directions that could keep the show going. I wonder why they can't tap into the Fantasmic system during the day.

But still, I would think that they could just disconnect the speaker and replace it in the third shift or even go backstage and get another. I would think that Disney might have a bunch of speakers backstage. Maybe not though.

I heard they did a radio call from the Main Street train station yesterday saying that they cancelled the Tiana show, I was wondering what that was about.

Well, if the speaker was not just blown, but was emitting constant static, then it would have totally disrupted the show.

Which is what it was doing. The static coming from the speaker itself was very loud, and definitely would have disrupted the show.

But still, I would think that they could just disconnect the speaker and replace it in the third shift or even go backstage and get another. I would think that Disney might have a bunch of speakers backstage. Maybe not though.

They tried to get it fixed while the boat ran with guests, but it probably would've been better just to leave it to the third shift CMs (which is what I think they did because of F!) so that they can test it without disrupting Frontierland/NOS. Don't know how the big the speaker itself is, but if they had to cancel all the shows I bet it's not something you can cart out in the middle of a busy park.
