  • [Question] Splash Mountain logs

One of my favorite rides at Disneyland has to be splash mountain for sure...the only thing I'm starting to realize is that I'm not really digging the seating style:http://land.allears.net/blogs/laurag...splash_log.jpg
I was looking at the the Walt Disney World version and I really do like their seating styles way more

I really think their style is much more comfortable compared too sitting behind some person that constantly is touching you with their elbows, you hit them with your feet cause the bottom of the boat is so slippery, and just all around comfort I rather sit side by side.

I understand that they would have to re configure the entire track because of the boats being bigger, what do you guys think?

YES PLEASE!!!! I always wanted them to do this! I remember when Splash was having a long rehab a couple years ago I was hoping that they would bring the WDW style boats over, but they never did. It also causes the line to become a lot shorter because it has the capability of putting two other people in each of the boats, and there are a lot of boats! I really wish they would do this!!!!

Yes. I would prefer it. Problem is, you'd be looking at a 'Space Mountain' class re-build. it would be costly and probably take just shy of 2 years of re-doing the mountain for that.

I actually like our logs very much. I've ridden the WDW version many times, and ours is more thrilling on the drops and is much more comfortable. The other configuration is not as generous leg room-wise. I imagine it would be a tight squeeze for tall people at WDW.

It wouldn't be practical on any level. Basically you would would need to rebuild Splash Mountain entirely. It wouldn't be just a refurb.

I think the toboggan style Disneyland ones look more comfy, the side by side WDW ones look like they'd hurt your knees if you are tall and slam into the back of the seat in front of you!

Having ridden the WDW version, I actually prefer the logs here at Disneyland, mainly because there is more of on oppurtunity to stay dry. xD Here, you can position yourself much easier the stay out of the waters way, because you have that entire row type thing to yourself, and you have as much legroom as you need.

I have ridden both the WDW and the DL Splash Mountain in the last 3 weeks. I prefer the DL boats as you are more involved in the show. The double seating of the WDW logs is more enclosing and you only have the flume on one side rather than within hands reach on both sides. The single file of DL is a more intimate experience. And as far as wetness, I got wetter on the WDW ride than I ever have on the DL ride.
I want you to know, nobody cares more about your stupid problems than I do!

Well, you can fit fat people on the WDW ride. So, that would explain why you got wetter. But, occasionally the front seat on the DL ride gets good splash.

                    Re: Splash Mountain logs

I like the Disneyland logs better. There's plenty of room so when I go down the drop it's way more exciting.

If you are trying to impress your date some more...you want the DL style moreso.

I haven't ridden WDW logs yet (Jan 6-15th!) but I do like the single-file logs. However, I much prefer the older style, before they went to the new single rider per section style. I miss the old 89 logs, those were great!

                            Re: Splash Mountain logs

Too many issues with widening the logs at dl. It resulted the the current poor version with the two seater in back. And that initially only resulted in log jams, because of too much weight in the logs. The current version of the logs has also resulted in a CONSIDERABLE increase in dowsings because of the current design flaws.

The old logs were very...um...intimate. There was nothing worse than having a relative or some random person shoved into your crotch as you're going up the last lift lol

                                Ahahahaha xD

Well I remember going on the Matterhorn with an old crush and the veichle was and still is very intimate and I had no complaints!

But that was 2 years ago and I'm much more mature.. - cough -

Exactly. It will never happen. They would have to re-do the whole ride. Maybe new logs, make them more comfortable, more leg room, different seats or something. But not the dual seating.

You can get intimate on WDW's logs too... not from experience... just a lot of graphic stories.

You also don't get very we- nevermind. Won't even go there- perverts
