  • Trip Report A113's Magical Thanksgiving Disney Trip and the Quest for Churros[11/26-11/28]

Alright, so I recently went over to DLR on a 3-Day Family Trip, departing on Thursday and I left this morning. This is my first TR, but here it is:

Day 1: November 26 - Arrival, and Partial DCA

I left in the morning and began to embark on an adventure to the happiest place on earth. I haven't been there in quite a while, but I have been aware of what has already been going on. The drive was pretty boring, just listened to the iPod the entire way there. Nothing special, really.

Are we there yet? Ah, at least I got some Rick James playing on the iPod.

And there it was.. the beauty, the proud, of.. oh wait wrong park.

    Nice skyline, wrong park :shy:

As we continued the highway I finally saw the first sign of Disneyland!

Eventually we got off the freeway and ended up right at the intersection that leads to the Mickey & Friends structure.

I can see it! Just almost ther--

Wait, where are you going? It's that way!

And as it turns out, I zoned out and remembered we need to first stop at our hotel to drop off our luggage so the fun can begin.

Just a little tease of the park. Ah I was too eager..

Nothing like a normal CM taking a nice bike ride around the boundary of the park!

And finally, we arrived at the Hilton. In just a little under an hour, I was going to begin one of my best DL trips of the year.

While we were being checked in, my brother and I decided to do what we usually do at a hotel..

    BROCHURE RAIDING!

One of them really caught my eye..

    ..Is this legit?

And then we finally headed over the parks. It was a bit on the later side, but we had two other days left so we took it really easy this day.

    Yay!

..Ah it's that time of year again

Not everyone in our party had an AP (we invited a bit of family/friends), so I chilled in the esplanade while all of that jazz of purchasing parkhoppers and tickets was going on.

    Really pretty.

We then entered the park (DCA) and I started just snapping random shots in the plaza.

We then headed into Hollywood for a late night. The majority of the party (as in, everyone but me) voted to eat at Award Weiners, but I'm not the biggest fan of Hot Dogs (in fact, I hate them), so I strolled over to Taste Pilot's Grill for a cheeseburger and headed back to Hollywood.

Hey, it's Minnie! Too bad she was on her way to to the film lot

I have in fact eaten burgers from TPG and I do in fact love them. Totally A113 Approved. The only thing about it that stands out from the other burgers at DLR is how the meat is cooked. It's usually really stale at most Burger Joints in Disneyland.

    Now you see it..

OM NOM NOM. Now you don't, it's all gone.

Aladdin was right down the street and it was about a quarter hour until the last show so we decided to check it out. We had the priority seating anyways.

And while waiting this brings me to the first of the quest for Churros, Churro Numero Uno!

    Drool..

And before we knew it, we were already in the theatre. It was very empty, being Thanksgiving day, so the only seating area filled was the Orchestra.

OM NOM NOM. Giant Man-Eating Elephant!! Rawr

This was one of the worser performances I've seen. I was really saddened by the use of archived jokes and the lack of laughter in the audience. The real laughter came from a giggle in the back row or a couple snickers from the guys behind us. The performers really deserved more feedback from the audience. Generally, the whole performance was deprived.

Next leaving the show was Muppets, choice of my brother.
Inside, I decided to do a little goofing off..

Hey the key is still here!

    And the Muppets cast themselves..

And I took some random shots inside the waiting lobby by the doors to the theatre.

    I Wonder where this is..

    Groovy.

Monster's was next. We DO have a 3 yr old in the Party after all.

They really need to bring back Hollywood & Dine. Award Wieners doesn't suffice as Hollywood's eating joint.

We then had enough of Hollywood Backlot and headed over to SOC.

And there we were, waiting in our spot, Bravo 1, ready to take flight. Right as we were entering, the best possible thing happened. The CM was walking out, and as I peeked into the show building all the passengers were still pushing the button to unbuckle the seatbelt but they just sat there. And then we waited another minute to get notified that the ride was malfunctioning from technical difficulties. Typical Disney For you

We walked by and they said, "Don't Mind Us, We're Not Stuck!" And the guy behind just says, "Then why aren't you movin'?" Classic

We then headed over to the Pier.

I noticed a portion was blocked off for repavement.

Everyone ruled Mania first before Screamin', so we did that. My best score was around 168K, so I wanted to see how I did.

    [Tourist Impression] Ooh.. Aaah

    Not bad.

Afterwards we did Screamin', and we fortunately got to the ride at park closing. They didn't take any row requests, so we were sent to the back. From the mind of a coaster nerd, I do recommend riding in the back more than the front, more fun :yea:

    Surf's Up!

*Sigh* They were only running one side.

    ZOOM!

Time to say goodbye.. wait what am I saying, we still have two more days!

Leaving the park, we headed over to our reserved Dinner in Downtown Disney at the Jazz Kitchen. That's it for Day 1, I'll post Day 2 in parts later.

Thanks. It took me so long to reupload all the pictures and resize them (they were originally huge and took up alot of space), so I will post the first part of Day 2 tomorrow morning.

Haha yeah I used up just about my whole SD card but one picture. IN fact, I was taking the last picture and as I was snapping it the battery died. Talk about a sad and unfortunate FAIL :lmao:. I uploaded mine to Imageshack though and they all came out fine.

i just decided not to use the pictures

Yeah I'm probably going to only use about 380ish of my 490 pictures. I have lots of the same shots, just trying to get the "right one." I need to take a photography class

well hopefully if you do take a photo class, it's better than mine
because mine is boring as heck

Haha maybe, Idk. I am interested in Photography, but it's more of a "I'll do it if I have time" sorta thing. My top priorities are really studying into CAD, Drawing, Design, and Coasters.

well idk what CAD is, but all the other ones sound really cool

i'm probably heading towards either the fashion or wedding industry for my career
i was thinking photography, but after that class, i would just really rather take a picture )

Heh, that's cool. We're getting a bit off topic on the thread but before getting back ontopic, CAD stands for Computer Aided Design, which is like modeling in 3d. IF and hopefully get into Imagineering I would be making digital models of new rides and attractions . Example:

                                But back on topic..

Haha yeah I need to take some classes to learn it. Anywho, it's on to Day 2! Really short update, but I'll get the next one up in an hour or so.

                                    Day 2 [November 27, 2009]: Part 1 - Black Friday

I started the day by being woken up early in the morning so we can head out to Best Buy to get our new computers. There was a whole lot of people, but we managed to get in line for the doorbusters. After about an hour we managed to finally get the computer (we needed two, one for me and my brother), and we were soon out.

On the way back to the hotel, we happened to pass Angles Stadium. I just wanted to snap a quick pic

                                    Ooooh... Ahhhh....

And then, we finally arrived back at the hotel. What you see below (excluding the SanDisk Flash Drive, I got that one separately), is the doorbuster deal offer we got. It was a Sony Vaio VGN-NW265F Notebook with built-in BluRay, a copy of The Taking of Pelham 123 on BluRay (Saw the move a few nights ago, pretty good), and a set of Sony Headphones. All completely for the price of well under 500 dollars. If you were to purchase it today, it would be about 600 to 700 bucks, as in just the computer itself. And I do have to say, this is a really fantastic computer (I'm obviously typing this TR on it :lol. Here a few pics of the unboxing:

                                    Must... Open.. Box..!

                                    *Droool*

                                    Too Cool..

And as said, in about an hour I will be posting Part 2.
