  • [Other] Amazing 1955 Historical Newspaper Section in regards to Disneyland's opening

Amazing great Historic section of the Friday, July 15th, 1955 Long Beach Independent-Press=Telegram Newspaper, 16 pages long.

1955 July 15 Independent Press Telegram Disneyland Paleo Future

Much of the section is ads from original sponsors and companies involved in building Disneyland.

If you love Disneyland History, this is a must read. Also lots of photos from 1955.

I loved the fact that Disneyland had over 12,000 Parking spaces (and the cost was 25 cents a day) when it opened. That is more than the current Parking Structure.....

Also on Page 16, loved the directions to get to Disneyland from San Diego.

A fact I am sadly aware of. Alas, the 'hundred acre parking lot...'

Thats a great link! 100 acres of parking, 60 acres of park. Its cool to read articles written which were in some cases speculation as to how popular the park would be and turned out to be so true. I especially find it interesting that food was a major player in the overall experience, at least it was promoted as such and yet today the food at the park seems to be mostly utilitarian - certainly not really for our dining pleasure.

                  Great posting!

Wow, I want to go to that park! All the great dining and authentic locations and antiques! Fully automated dining in Tomorrowland and the only ODV carts were on Main Street and actual antiques from the period!
